Just been in store and taken 2 out on contract and then paid it off. Handset works out as £205 but if you go on the 100gb tariff, they can take off £100 bringing the handset cost £105! Called customer service 3 hours later, paid £105 for each phone and got both contracts cancelled I believe its only in store. Plus you can claim a free pair of Huawei buds worth around £80!

Total and absolute nonsense but I'm quite happy for it to be here. More bargains for me!
Yes. It involved a credit check as does any contract. If a single phone call is difficult then yes I guess it is difficult to get out of.....

How exactly has anyone been 'caught out '

People need to understand what a credit score is and how it works. Of course a credit score will go down slightly if you have a search done but it will go back up. Think of it like brownie points with the misses. If you have a high score you can go out on an all night bender. Score comes down. It doesn't mean anything.
Would I take out multiple refresh deals if I was going for a mortgage shortly? No I wouldn't. If not then who cares? What are you saving your high credit score for exactly?

If exercising your right to cancel then why is it dangerous? Genuine question here, I've been watching these Refresh deals for a while now and would like to know why, since many people seem to be doing it exactly as intended and getting phones for less than RRP.

Some hoops, hurdles and hopes necessary to get this deal done. 😳
Can you explain how you can cancel contract. I thought if bought face to face you can't cancel

Refresh means you can terminate or upgrade as long as you pay the handset value. Which in this case is £105.

Not really. Just go in store and they do the work for you and they give you leaflet to claim the buds. pretty easy

Take out a new contract on 100gb traffic. Couple hours later when its all set up, you call customer service to pay off your contact. The cost will be £105 which is the handset cost and tell them you want to cancel. Plus you get to claim free buds
Fantastic deal
This or the Samsung A50?
Great deal.
Just waiting for the p30 pro deal to come back again... Hoping
thanks

Only if you already have really bad credit. I have good credit and pay for Experian and it didn’t do anything to my score

Very easy to get out of, but effects your credit indeed.

They would have run a credit check for the contract you've taken out... So it will show a search on your report and potentially take a hit in score.

Nonsense. I've done 3 O2 Refresh deals in past couple months and credit score is still 999.

Get a STAC code from another sim and can process the cancellation online so no need to call up. You will get billed for first month but quick online chat after payment taken will get that refunded apart from the few days till it cancelled.

If you don't pay full cost upfront as you can do when you buy online then you might get the £105 added to the first month's DD. Maybe someone else can confirm?

Couldn’t agree more. Not like we’re running checks everyday Plus I took out 2 phones and its still only one credit check
This may beat mrswitche's deal on the p30 lite he posted earlier!

Samsung A50. Mutch more faster. Better battery, better camera, better screen and just a bit better processor.

Nonsense scaremongering. I have done numerous of these and never had any issues. Most recent one was a Mate 20 pro for £152!
So you can cancel the contract and not have to pay anything (contract)?

You will have to pay for the time between order placed and cancelled. Last time done it within one day and my final bill was £0.64 or something like that. Within October and November I took Mate 20 Pro, P30 and P30 Pro but with P30 had to go thru the complaint team to be cancelled . Other two cancelled with no hassle thru the phone.

All I can say is... Every phone I buy is now via O2 refresh doing this. Those who make a mess of it are not doing it properly or reading the steps correctly.

Have some heat.
This would have been scorching hot if it was an online deal. Good for those who can get to an O2 store easily
Civichyde15/12/2019 18:48

Who cares its not going to make a difference, dont know why people get so obsessed with their score. The score means nothing, unless its really low.
Lenders dont look at that mythical number, my score is only good apparently but yet i got accepted for an extremely low apr loan recently no problem and ive done the o2 refresh deal 5 times in last 18 months and applied for multiple credit cards.

Nonsense, theres nothing to get out of its a refresh deal, you leave any time you want and credit score 😴
Has anyone been successful to get this online?
