Not really that good because RM are extremely crap as ive worked with them and there equipment and service is ****, excuse the stars...

I DO work for them (have done for 8 years) and you are talking through your rear end -these machines all use industry standard mainboards etc Fair enough to have an opinion but dont think having worked for them in the past means anything. You want to talk about Services ? Thats where I work - PM me if you think you have a decent point. As for this bargain RMs service is irrelevant its BP you are dealing with. No need to be so bitter ;-) The BP price is fair and the PCs are as reliable as any other you care to mention - Dell, Viglen, Gateway etc.

I'm not sure how great this deal is. At first glance £150 is cheap, but 256mb RAM will barely let you browse the internet, let alone use MS Office. Certainly no games aside from those over 5 years old. However, with maybe a 512MB add-on and a HDD upgrade (1/4 of the supplied HDD will be used for windows & office - if you use them) then it would be ok.

However that would cost you around £100ish and I'm pretty sure you can get a reasonable base unit for around £250 from ebuyer.com or dell when they do an offer.

Also beware the pre-loaded OS - I always reformat my PC to get all the rubbish off that computer companies pre-install. You WON'T be able to do that here as there's no OS disc provided.

For what its worth RM PCs dont get filled with the same stuff that Dell etc do like AOL or McAfee trial versions - you get the OS as is in most cases (unless the PC has been sold as part of a scheme requiring additional software). I reckon all you would need to do would be to run windows update to get it up to the latest MS patches etc. Agree that the memory is low but memory is dirt cheap and it would make a reasonable HTPC, web browser or whatever etc.

These fans on these machines are as noisy as hell :w00t:
