I was in the Beckton Tesco and stumbled across these(they are the blue coloured packs in the picture). I dont know if anyone still uses cd-r's, but at that price I thought I would share the deal. If I remember right they are upto 52 speed, 700mb or 80 mins of music.
They had a big display with loads of them on the end of an isle, so I am assuming its nationwide.

I did a search but could not find it posted already.

They had a few more Maxell bits going cheap on the same stand (dvd+/- etc), but i cant remember the prices of those.

I have seen this offer for the last week at my local store..

also.. the TESCO branded discs are also heavily reduced.

thanks

Hot for me. Thanks

Hot !

Hmm, I think alot of disc reductions in Tesco are store specific. I have looked for many of the disc related offers but never seem to get em in my local store. Will abstain from heat atm and take a look tonight

My local tesco appears to be heavily discounting most of their CD-Rs but no such luck with the DVD-Rs though. Dont think I will stock up on these though. I think I still must have about 100 unused CDRs up to 5 years old. Soon, BDRs will be cheap enough for regular use and CDRs will be all but redundant.

Apart from the fact that a lot of hi-fi's etc dont have dvd or blue ray playability...

CD's will be around for a long time, unless bands start bringing out albums that have 70+ songs on them

Careful with them old CDs if you're burning anything important - CDs can degrade over time, but obviously it depends on the quality of the disc, where and how it was stored etc.

:santa:

As good a price as this is, it is funny to think that at about 5p for 7-800 meg you can actually get cheaper per gig space by buying a HDD.

The one I got off ebuyer 50 for £3.50 are ok, they burned ok and have not had a coaster in 20 odd burns don't know what they will be like in a few years but i've had some cheap cds from 5 odd years back and they are ok

Well yes, but that's hardly what CD's are for.

Well it kinda was. People used to use CDs as a way to back up large amounts of data, there is no point anymore.

The only situation I really burn CDs anymore is to install an operating system on a computer. I guess they are still useful for audio CDs but even that is fairly redundant as most new audio players can play MP3s anyway.

Any modern disc drive can burn + and - CDs I always go for the - as some cd players and dvd players dont recognise the CD+R

Great deal....shame my locals don't have it!! (Both stores in Aylesbury)

I've given up looking in some of our local stores, never been able to see any on promotion, even though others have.

Maybe the secret for me is "not to look for them and then i'll find them :whistling:"

Ashford and Folkestone both have ample stocks of 50 packs as of saturday pm. I got 50 x sony cdr 700mb 80mins for about £4 odd said reduced from £17) and 50 x kodak cdr the same for £2.40 odd. I know nothing about discs or etc but as I got a new pc last week was I contemplating copying some decent music cds to use for the car ( as the car ones seem to get thrashed). There were also loads of small packs of various brands all about 80% off Tesco's alledged original price. In Folkestone they were in a gloomy aisle, left hand side of the first aisle on the right hand side as you come in, near mags.

what a joke I have CDs dating back 2003 and they still work. Im not saying all CDs will work but its rather silly to assume 5 years is the limit of a CD not knowing anything about it.

I guess you can't go wrong for that price!

I have CDs from 7 years ago that still work perfectly well and they are the cheapest of the cheap.
Where as some verbs from last year which are kept in the same way as the cheap c*ap and they have stopped working.
Goes to show what some people on forums know :whistling:

You can't. You can get + and - DVDrs though

Afraid Maxell deals are cold from me...they are very poor quality CD-Rs.

Always try and use TDK or Taiyo Yuden...worth the extra
