Pack of four candle lamp bulbs (40w SES) for 69 pence at Home Bargains

A lot of those cheap lamps that Tesco is selling just now use these SES (small Edison screw) 40 watt candle lamps, but they are unreasonably expensive most places for what they are. Home Bargains has them for just over 17 pence each when you buy 4, appropriately branded "Payless". Of course their lamp shelf is chaos and half the stuff isn't shelf priced, but it is worth a dig.

Four candles...
No..."Fork Handles..!"
do they stock the 60w?
Use low energy spiral ses lamps instead. When on offer at the big supermarkets you can get 3 for less than a quid.. An 8 watt low energy gives the same light a sa 42 watt standard type bulb. I stock up on them every time tescos do a promotion.
Payless is the old Focus DIY brand so these are bankrupt stock that Home Bargains have bought up. Probably made by someone such as Sylvanian. Good price, have some heat op!.

I haven't seen these cheap offers on low energy bulbs recently. Yes, I stock up too, when available, and Home Bargains used to have some for 10 pence each (ordinary bayonet, not the SES), but apparently these offers were only possible because of some kind of subsidy which has come to an end. I saw a notice to that effect in Tesco, anyway.

The great thing about using energy saving bulbs in these low wattage rated lamps is you can get more light. The ratings are based on the heat that the lamp will take, and you can use a higher equivalent light rated energy saver bulb without exceeding the rating and melting something. But I think the bulbs are going to cost a lot more from now on.
Dont bother with these, low energy is the way to go.
