I can't see a DVD player on this baseball bat. I wanted to put Windows 7 on it. My last baseball bat had Windows 10 on it.

They are made by Acer, my E1-571 looks similar to this model.

Ahh that's interesting. And from Acer was born Asus.....to me this is ironic as I'd never even consider buying Acer stuff to be honest.
Sounds like a reasonable laptop for my son to use for school work (once I remove the bloatware) at a reasonable price, duely ordered and heat added - thanks. Already upgraded to Windows 10 as well which is nice given the deadline of 27th July for anyone wanting to upgrade for free.
Great deal with an i3 at this price. Screen pretty low res obviously is the cost saving...

Escom for the win
Wasn't it the intention for Acer only to sell its high end stuff under the Packard bell brand. They may have been better off calling it something else. Bought two Packard bell PC's back in the OO's. Never again. Both broke within a couple of years and they weren't cheap. Maybe better today but I thought this brand was dead and buried. For me it is.......
Perfect, thanks. Ordered!
Just ordered, thanks!

The other way around. The cheap, low end stuff was to be sold as Packard Bell.
I haven't bought an Acer since the iconia a510 tablet a few years back which was a decent tablet and a travelmate 803 laptop for around £1300 over ten years ago. Again it was a decent laptop for the time with bluetooth, wireless, radeon gpu and smartcard reader/writer.
Can't go wrong with a 2yr John Lewis guarantee though, which is the biggest reason next to cost why I've ordered one as no doubt I'll not last with my 11yr old using it, so the cheaper the better!

Just remember that warranty is only as good as the condition it's in, i.e. if you drop it and crack the screen, don't expect them to fix it if the motherboard breaks. Any obvious marks of abuse will give them good cause to say that failure has been down to that. I know accidents happen but I can't believe how some people abuse their stuff. My colleague at work was only complaining on Monday that his daughter had broken his laptop touch screen. It would appear she had stood on it. This was an accident but the laptop was on the floor. Probably not the best place to store expensive pieces of equipment.

Haha, I had the right facts but just twisted them around. I should be in politics lol. Hope everyone voted today irrespective of whether you want to be in or out. It won't matter to most of us. The rich will still get richer but I bet they don't get as much enjoyment from bargain hunting on sites like this.

Lol! My son is pretty good to be fair and does appreciate the cost of things, so it'll only be *slightly* trashed

Haha, looks like he has had a good teacher. My dad always taught me to respect my stuff and we did the same with our kids and my my little granddaughter who's just four is so careful with her toys. You can't stop accidents but you can teach them to be careful. Lots out there who are not though. My other half works in a school and looks after all the mobile phones collected from the kids. Just about every one has a cracked screen.
