The reviews aren't particularly great though

Celeron N2820 is a crazy-slow processor to run Windows 8, this will have very poor performance. False economy

Agreed. In 3 months time you may as we'll have bought a c64 it'll be that slow. Celeron processors are awful. Not only is Packard bells build quality terrible, but their customer service is a joke. The spec is atrocious. Avoid.

Of course it will run Windows lol. This is a cheap brand new laptop with low budget components aimed at a basic user. You want it to do more, you pay more. I wouldn't buy one personally but for £230 I would be expecting something like this.

Celeron processors are awful. .

This is a poor statement - not only wildly subjective, but without any real argument or evidence, or any comparator.
In -my- experience some of the more modern ivy bridge and haswell based processors, even the very low end, are good for many tasks. They make wonderful cores of HTPC's for example.

HOWEVER the N2820 (see Intel ARK page here) is a Bay Trail (ie Atom based) architecture. I would argue that for this reason, some may find it underpowered compared to what they may want to use it for - i find it sneaky that Intel started naming some Atoms as Celeron's. For these reasons I agree with Jubbi's view.

Don't agree with the "build quality" comment, I've had an i3 easynote for a few years now and it's still going strong. It's also still running as fast as ever. Would definitely buy another if an i5 came up at a decent price.

slow processor for windows rather get a chromebook

Comment was in context, as all celerons are poor for use with windows. You could also get a much better built dell Inspiron 15 with a still poor celeron N2830 for £30 less. Granted, the hard drive is only 500gb, but that saving means you can increase the hard drive if you need to later. I still think super low cost laptops are false economy, especially when £319 will get you a 4th gen i3 with 6gb ram.

sold out

I had just read through yours comments and u have to say I am gutted! I'm self employed and thought this laptop was perfect! As was the price! But I took it back to PC world and because it's 11 days past the 21 day time frame they won't entertain me! They are rude and don't care. I am not familiar with technical things if I'm honest and the manager mentioned to me we brought a slower laptop? Why the hell wasn't we told this before we brought it! :@(

I got one for £220 brand new, it is for my parents, they send emails and browse the web, its perfect for that!! And the build quality is great. 65 yr olds dont usually do 3d online gaming. Its a bargain dont let others put you off!!
