I've just taken delivery of one of these refurbished units and can confirm that they are excellent value for money. Admittedly the graphics card could be considered a weak point but it's hardly a show stopper & doesn't detract from overall value/performance aspect. Delivery was £4.95 and took 2 working days (couriered by DHL).

P.S> Adding price to thread title

there is also a similar spec Packard Bell for £299 that has a 200gb hard drive so probably the better deal...naff graphics but easy to upgrade.
pcworld.co.uk/mar…485

6% quidco cashback and maybe codeYAWF07 will get you a 5% discount.

Just to add - I've got one of these as well and they really are very good.

This model does not have the free Vista Premium upgraded that the 2569 does.

PC World seem to have disappeared from Quidco - anyone noticed that? Also YAWF07 does not work now.

Depends on what you want. Original deal has XP media centre with free XP Home premium or if you want an extra 40gb space but only XP Home with half price Vista Home Basic upgrade go for the one above.

actually, you CANNOT get a free vista upgrade. This ended yesterday, as it was provided by PAckard Bell directly...

if you follow the links from the PCworld item page, you will get through
pcworld.co.uk/mar…ade
thetechguys.com/vista/
packardbell.co.uk/vis…ble
and on the packardbell site it states

MICROSOFT® WINDOWS® VISTA SPECIAL UPGRADE OFFER*

Packard Bell proposes the present upgrade offer to purchasers of Packard Bell computers at preferential terms and conditions.
It is solely valid for Packard Bell Windows Vista™ Capable** models delivered with Microsoft® Windows® XP, Microsoft® Windows® XP PRO, or Microsoft® Windows® Media Center Edition operating systems, with the Windows Vista Capable Logo on the computer’s casing, purchased between October 26th 2006 and March 15th 2007, and subject to the following terms and conditions.

Shame as you could order from dixons or currys site as well (for the quidco and other discounts)

Graphics upgrade may require new PSU also though so worth noting.
Worth the cash though I think it has been posted before.
The Imedia uses the Cuba Packard Bell Motherboard so easy enough to check upgradeability. 2 DDR2 slots is a little limiting though.

sorry didn't notice the free upgrade but have purchases to be completed by yesterday to get the upgrade?

Yes looks like no quidco for PCWORLD but guess this is also available through Currys so you can get the 3% quidco..if you look at edi's Packard Bell laptop hot deal there are Currys codes for free delivery and possible 5% discount.

Your right, it does say the 15th for the free Vista Upgrade. Looks like they have not updated their website.

I am very tempted with this - does anyone know whether the graphics card is AGP or PCI-Express?

In fact - does anyone have a link to the motherboard specifications - I would like to know if this has SATA or IDE hard drive connectors - and how many.

Same for the optical drives.

Having done some more research, this one looks better value to me.
currys.co.uk/mar…951

Dixons also have it and there is a £15 discount code on here - and quidco.

This a more capable graphics card, 320gb hard drive, 2gb ram, tv tuner and an Intel Core2Duo E6400 cpu. for £399.

Just waiting to find out some more information on the motherboard.

Gopes

I got one of these from currys, had to do a bios update on it as it kept crashing & freezing all the time. no probs since i done the bios update tho.

The Hdd drive is quite noisey (clunking & clicking) on my one tho, is that norm for these machines?

Jus want to upgrade the graphics card on it now?

Specs ]HERE

Yes its a better spec but then it is nearly £100 more.

so does that mean if buying from currys you wont get a vista upgrade?

the vista offer ended yesterday.
so unless you bought it yesterday or earlier, no you cant get a upgrade.

Ive just got the 2569, does anyone know how to set it up to record tv or if i can get a remote for it for the music like with the 2559?

real shame - so is that still the case even you you buy it from PC world where is says VISTA upgrade included?

just rang PC world - I can confirm that there is not way to get 2770 with a vista upgrade

This is now £264.99!

I paid £314.99 (-5%) it is a great PC though a tad noisy but when your playing music you cant hear it!

just found this at currys its now cheaper again:

with vouchers:

Total Cost (includes all charges) £218.49 + 4.5% quidco
