not bad heat added made by acer have been using a packard bell ixtreme for a couple of years with no trouble.

Thanks for posting - looking for a new pc for my 10yr old son and this seems to fit the bill but he also wants to play Spore on it. Can't find any detailed info on the graphics card, so would be grateful for any help as to what this pc has on it.

yes heat added good pc for price- just hope its got win 7 64 bit so u can upgrade ram in future , otherwise will be an extra £££ for new win 7 also would be good to no what other component in pc , but ebuyers is decent and i doubt they will put junk into it

the same rig is on amazon and in the specs it states integrated graphics

This is a "small form factor" PC so has limited expansion - if you look at this picture of the rear you will see that it uses a mini-ITX motherboard with room for a single low profile expansion card (currently occupied by a wireless card) - if you want to fit a graphics card then you would need to find out whether it has a PCI or PCIe x16 slot - if it has PCIe x16 then you could fit a low profile graphics card. Spore will run with the integrated graphics on the Core i5 but may be a little slow.

Most games these days are GPU and not CPU bottlenecked. As previously pointed out the integrated GPU will be slow. Check carefully for GPU upgradeability. Not really a gaming machine, but very good price.

Nice deal, packard bell site says 1 USB 3 port on the front too.

Yes - As comments above it's not a monster gaming machine, More for your average web surfer and general office work at home pc..

Castellano, if your after basic gaming check out the dell deal for the vostro I7. I've just bout two for my 12 and 10 year old. HTH

Can anyone recommend a decent machine for gaming, video and photo editing under 600 please?

nickster78, thanks for the recommendation, will take a look at the dell.

Does anybody know the quality of the chassis for this desktop? Is is so thin that it could break easily? There are ventilation holes all around the sides and on the top. Are they very prone to attracting visible dust?

I am looking for specs similar to these, but something that is also quite sturdy and strong. I have seen this one as well, for £100 more: comet.co.uk/p/C…426, which looks to have an overall more sturdy build quality, and is normal sized, so expandable. Specs wise, some things are better on the Asus, and some on the Packard Bell.

Which is better? An i3 2120 with 8 gig ram, or an i5 2320 with 4 gig ram?

All help much appreciated.

The i3 2120 runs slightly faster for one or two threads and the i5 is faster for three or more threads (e.g. video transcoding). The ram won't make any difference. In general the i3 is a better buy unless you really need a quad core processor.

A link fromthat page took me to http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vibox-4-0GHz-Fast-Quad-Core-Gaming-PC-ATI-HD-6450-8GB-1TB-Multimedia-Computer-/190682686146?_trksid=p4340.m1374&_trkparms=algo%3DPI.WATCH%26its%3DC%252BS%26itu%3DUCC%26otn%3D15%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D2384377354765987963

Vibox 4.0GHz Fast Quad Core Gaming PC ★ ATI HD 6450 8GB 1TB Multimedia Computer £274.95

No op system, but seems a better deal.

no worries i like novatech the support team are great if you want advice or help much better than the big online stores etc.

don't expect to upgrade the gpu as the psu won't handle it and is not upgradable as it is a unique size to PB.

It would be an excellect deal if it had a PCIe x16 slot, but cannot find the motherboard type.
With Geforce 640, it would be a capable and cheap gaming machine, an Alienware x51 replacement :-)

Just brought me one of these

Should arrive Tuesday or Wednesday; though i think 8AM on Tuesday; as ebuyer has always been fast delivery to me.

Reasons i brought:
Cheap
2nd gen i5 processor.
Quad core Intel processor
Small size
Wifi
4GB in 1 stick of ram; so i can make it 20GB soon as i receive it.

reasons i wouldnt buy it;
- I'd have to remove wifi card for the graphics upgrade- though a £10 micro wifi usb stick would work just as good

How do you know it is 1 a stick RAM and that how many memory slots does it have?

oh dear...

Without giving too much away, i can assure you that there are more CSR's repairing these things on any given day than any other brand of machine by quite a long way.

If you knew what i knew, which i'm not obliged to say, you probably wouldn't even entertain this.

ah just realized, you want to buy a 16 gb RAM module :-) but the jury is still out on my other question, about ftom where do you know if it arrives with 1 memory module?
and hopefully it is a 64 bit OS :-)

course its integrated graphics the Core i processors have the Intel HD GPU being second gen sandy bridge it will be HD3000

got nothing to do with the general uneducated PC public going to PC world and buying these hence a shedload more of these are sold than major brands?

No it won't - it is HD2000.

Do we know is this Win64 bit? Can graphics be upgraded if wifi removed?

So tempted i take it this cpu is far superior to the Amd bulldozer range even if there running at 4ghz like this?

my mistake, i was under the impression the 2nd gen sandybridges were Intel HD3000. but i might be thinking of mobile processors.

Is this a better deal than this one?
Zoostorm

ordered, thanks op

Basically, it will be used for work, so I'm buying basically for 2 reasons:
- 4 core @ 3 Ghz - 3.3 Ghz (turbo) is exceptionally fast! (At least the Intel version.)
- The small case is a must for me

1. The RAM is expendable for pennies
2. I can supercharge the machine with a cheap SSD, e.g. 128 GB for £40
3. If I can fit a video card, so it would be able to handle games, essentially becoming an Alienware x51 replacement
http://www.dell.com/uk/p/alienware-x51/fs
It may be possible.
a. This machine is sold with Geforce GT 620 in other configs, so the ordered version may also be able to do so.
b. Geforce GT 640 uses newer manufacturing tech then 620 thus consuming only a slightly more power, so maybe the PSU will be able to handle it.
c. Alienware's cheapest 2 machines (ranging from £650 - £800) uses Geforce 545 with 1 GB memory. 640 happily matches, but you can buy it with 2-4 GB video memory. Not to mention that the "cheap" configs can only be ordered with Intel i3 processors... (2 core)

So if the PSU and the space and the motherboard will also agree, I can boost the video performance as well.

And as someone mentioned, I can use an USB stick for few quids for wifi. (I would need to remove the wifi card to fit the videocard)

So this machine is dirty cheap, and I can play with it, and I may be able to replace some stuff, still keeping the total price low.
But if I did nothing else than buying one more 4 GB RAM module, it would already be a super-fast and super-small computer for around £315.

My raving ends here.

How quiet is this machine? Thinking about using it for a media centre. THE CPU alone is about £150!

Hi, Does anyone know whether this buy qualifies for a Win 8 upgrade at all please? Am a big fan of small form factor PCs and Mini-ITX. Fount Acer's range of Aspire and Veriton SFF's to be great where space does not allow for a full nor mid size ATX Tower. It's a shame that the PB website does not show the Mobo layout / specifications (that I'm aware of) but other than that this sounds and looks like a great little machine. Voted hot.

Edit:

Found the PD Win 8 upgrade offer page however am not sure whether what this particular model that eBuyer Express are selling is.
Does anyone have any ideas at all please?
