Tempting offer, however a traditional paella takes about 2 hours to make oO and you need a lot more ingredients than that provided in the kit.

Looks good, but cannot justify the postage and cannot find anything else I would like. Voted.

6 ordered - good find op

Voted hot for the Calasparra rice alone!

"Calasparra Paella Rice DOP - Spain produces over 855,000 tons of rice every year, most of which is grown in the Valencia region. However, the very best Spanish rice is grown in tiny quantities in the village of Calasparra in the province of Murcia in South East Spain.

This paella rice is from Calasparra and is the first rice in the world to be awarded a DOP. It is grown at high altitudes by cooperatives, on ancient terraces built by the Moors, and is irrigated by the clean, cold water of the river delta. No chemicals are used during production.

Calasparra is a short, round grain rice: the starch structure gives a much moister, stickier consistency than long grain varieties. It has high absorbency, increasing in both length and width by around 70%, so is well suited to dishes where it can take in the flavours of the other ingredients."

Thanks OP, nice find.

Paprika, jarred peppers and some rice for a £15 RRP? Haha. I guess Pimenton is normally quite expensive, so probably just about justifiable for £3.75, but calling this a Paella kit when it only contains maybe 1/5th of the ingredients required is crazy!

Clearly £15 for the original price is a joke, and yes you'll need more then the ingredients included to actually make a paella but the peppers and paprika can be used for a host of other recipes.

A quick google and the peppers would appear to cost more then this deal alone.

And don't forget the little wooden crate. (_;)

Voted hot.

What a muppet comment!!

I'm from Murcia Spain. I

Its a good deal, but the RRP shouldn't be 15 quid. I've bought that rice before at Calasparra town ( I'm from Murcia) , and costs around 3 Euros.
that particular brand is top quality, but, I'm afraid that that is not a paella kit. the saffron is a basic ingredient that is missing.

even though, the rice can be used for any other dish

I ordered 6 too! Cheers OP.

I hope the sell by date is long otherwise I'll have to gift some of these lol.

A Paella takes around one hour to make. If prepared before, possibly slightly quicker. I have made hundreds of Paellas & once made four Paellas, 3 meat & one veggie for a group of Spanish students. The students all went for the meat ones first. Once the three meat ones had been eaten, they started on the veggie one with upturned noses, that was until they tried it, they loved it.

Great deal - ordered 6 - will make some wonderful Spanish dishes with these ingredients

I dont know how to do it properly, my mom does it. It is a dish very difficult to master. What I can say is that best paellas ive eaten were and done with a 'paellera' (paella pan) the depth from the surface of the rice to the bottom of the pan is 1 inch max and are done with wooden fire, (Not oven or gas cooker )
I particulary prefer seafood paella, either with lobster or peeled prawns and squids

What a rip. Where's the lobster, saffron and some liqueur I've never heard of.

Please, do not spoil a paella by adding chorizo.

this receipt is a joke. thats a receipt of rice with some stuff, not paella.
I've never heard about a paella with some kind of liquor. Also, doesn't seem the best idea mix chicken stock with lobster and peas

i think that it would be a better idea search in google 'receta de paella' and use google translator. whatever it turns up is probably going to be better than that

Im looking forward to all this!

I only mentioned "paella kit" because it says there is a recipe card to create your own paella in the box. I've no idea what its like !

I think there is a big difference between Spanish and British tastes when it comes to paella. The 'authentic' paellas we've tried (also in Murcia!) have been far too moist for me. My wife's recipe uses longer grain rice and may not be truly 'Spanish' but it's what you enjoy that counts! And she DOES include diced chorizo which is sautéd first to impart the flavour into the juice.

Just had some of mine delivered, nice looking little kit, would make a nice present.

The rice has a best before of August 2015 (not sure rice really needs a best before date?). The peppers just say 2018, and pimenton Dec 2015,although I think unopened it will be fine well past that.

Just had mine delivered. Not impressed.
