5 quid.... Missprice? Mad hot??

A great price but be wary: the cost of the paintball ammo really mounts up. That's why they can afford to give away such a great offer. If you're prepared to play as a 'sniper' then, yes, great value. However, with a machine that can fire so rapidly I would guess that you're going to get through ammo at an alarming rate!

Had a quick skim of the site The Hut links to, and your possibly looking at over £10 per 100 paint balls. No doubt cheaper if you buy in bulk?

A couple of mates I know go paintballing and confirm what MonkeyD said, the entry etc. is almost negligible cost these days as the money is made on the ammo.

Isnt britvic code only for zavvi not for thehut?

Yeah, they really get you on additional ammo.
I've been paint-balling twice and each time spent a fortune on ammo (even being conservative when using my shots).

It also hurts like hell. Never again.

Try Airsoft - costs less, hurts less, more fun

normally £50 X) all you're paying for is the "free" lunch

would be funny if people went to these and didn't buy any ammo, just to take advantage of the offer. just run around in all the gear not shooting each other

This will cost you a fortune. Thats why they give you semi autos, they use a lot more paint.
Not a good deal, you can generally get these for free nowadays as the paint must be bought from them.

Went just over a year ago and what an excellent time you have but it costs a fortune!
You pay for your paintballs there and you just keep going through them like water.
Think its 100 paintballs for £10. You need to keep getting refills.

This does include lunch for 8 people, so gotta be hot on that alone.

work it out 7 shots per second 10p per paint ball, every time you pull that trigger your looking at least £1.00.

Ok before you experts jump in you can just flick the trigger and fire a single shot but if you new to this and see a shot your going to keep trigger planted for couple seconds it adds to the fun.

We were using about 300 balls per game and we had 6 games so 1,800 balls

£10 for 100 paintballs is expensive, the usual going rate is £6 and then less if bought in bulk.

take ya own paint balls my husband does, get them from ebay you can get 1000 for about £23.99

Why do people keep posting these useless deals?
It's obvious they use this price to draw gullible people in to a paintball site that is usually a pile of rubbish, people don't realise that if you play these games properly you'll need about 800 balls for the day.

Go to a NPF venue and you usually get 1000 balls and a quality venue for about £50-£60. Oh and a free burger!

Read the T&c's, I'd put a quid on that they say you can't take your own....as they all do.

Funny, the last post for this was very cold. Apparently overpriced paint balls and basic sites.

The main thing that annoys me are the people who are on the high streets trying to sell the same scam!

NPF venue? Have you got the link?

I've used one of these "deals" before - as stated it costs a fortune in additional paintballs and the "lunch" was a very cheap burger and a cup tea!

No idea why this is hot.... as everyone else has said they screw you on the ammo.

I've seen this kinda thing as a free deal before.... that's how much they make on the ammo.

Cold from me.

Does not say if you get any paint balls with the deal, if not what are you paying for apart from the lunch?.
The ones i have been to have charged £30 which gives you everything in this deal plus 500 balls but not the lunch i ended up spending £70 for the day as the 500 balls lasted 2 games.

I did a deal similar to this recently.

Was 1000 paintballs for £70, 2000 for £120.

It's good to share but even with that expect to pay ~£50 each for paintballs as each day is roughly 7x two thirty minute sides.

Crazy prices for paintball. You can get deals like this with others who are much cheaper on paintballs (they are quoting £11.50 for first hundred and £8 for every 100 after - awful!!)

We got barred from Slough for smuggling our own ammo in.
The cheeky guys claimed thgat we damaged the guns and wanted to charge us for that.
After pointing some fingers at them the situation was calmly and amicably resolved (kidding, was almost a riot):p
Still got barred though:(

They all ban you from bringing your own paintballs, as you'd expect (although easy to smuggle in ). Usually get 100 paintballs included in this sort of deal, will last 1 round at most with an auto.

Lunch is at best a burger, worst a bit of soup in a polystyrene cup.

Paintballing is a comprimise of going in winter, where you can wear more layers, but its like firing marbles at each other, or in summer the balls are softer, bit you can only wear one layer else end up sweating like a diabetic in thorntons, and therefore feel the hit more.

April/may best time to go imo.

but how do you register a kill if there is no paint splatter?

This deal seems much of a muchness, as other posters have already stated, the money is made by the site's inflated paintball prices. But worthdoing if you've never been before.
I would think at the very least you will be spending £50 extra on paintballs and that's being conservative. so plan to spend £70 if you want a full day.

I go paintballing once a month and If like me you will go paintballing more than 3 times, may i suggest purchasing your own equipement. Similar markers that you will use at a place like this and all the other equipement you need can be bought for as little as £160 all in. This means you can go to walk on days where you only pay a fiver and use your own paintballs. By doing this I have already saved myself hundreds of £s. A lot of paintball forums are very helpful for beginners and will give a lot of advice to someone trying to get their own equipement on the cheap.

Please note this is only a useful ploy if you plan to go a lot.

This is the one we use in Birmingham, awesome venue. £42.50 including 500 balls or £62 with 1000
If you only want half a day they do 300 balls for £32.50

All of the above come with kit and lunch.

Listen to what Almo said.

Do not buy your tickets from these type of distributors. They act as middle men between the site and yourselves. They have no real assosciation with the majority of the sites they advertise for and are very misleading

Ro88 - Google National Paintball Fields Bassets Pole. This is an excellent site, well run and very safe. You will pay around £35-£50 for the day (depending on how much you shoot) but you can expect a much beter fun day and I believe this site is the biggest in Europe.

Other places to play:

NPF
Warped Sports
Skirmish Paintball

Let me know what area you are in and I will recommend a place to you,

P.S. Voted cold as these deals suck

Don't get excited, it's just a cheapo burger.

Agree with the cold voters here. Got sold this at Lakeside as a cheap birthday treat for my son and his friends costing £160.

Lucky I went on the net to research and found all the details about the real cost. Took about 4 weeks to get my money back.

Airsoft is vastly superior due to: less pain, less constricting safety gear (some people use eyewear more like safety glasses than goggles), realistic looking weapons in multiple styles, some truly fantastic sites (compared with paintball site I have gone to, so possibly an unfair comparison).

HOWEVER. Airsoft does not work at all if you are playing with knobends. If you can get enough of your friends, aquaintences, family or colleagues to get a 2 sided game going, its an amazing experience. Its never happened to me, but if you got some chavvy assholes on the oposing team, like I have done at paintball, it would be ****. Its a pure honesty system. Usually there is some kind of revive mechanism- medics, a respawn point etc, to make death less individually harsh and so to make people less reticent to admit to being hit.

If people want recommendations- and im no expert- I use Gunman Airsoft based somewhere near Cambridge, ive been out to thier Tudenham site a few times. They also do interesting "experience" nights with actors pretending to be zombies etc, as a change of pace.

Thanks.

but how do you register a kill if there is no paint splatter?

It's fairly obvious when you're hit and when you are you call yourself out and/or (as in paintball) a marshall will call you out.

I haven't been either paintballing or airsofting in a couple of years and I can unequivocally say that airsofting is far superior to paintball in almost every way. It's cheaper, it's a lot more fun - the markers/guns have a longer range and are more accurate and fire fully automatic (avg. 500-800 rpm) and yet as there is a lot less energy in the projectile, they hurt less. Airsoft guns can look rather realistic and come in all various shapes and sizes from pistols to rocket launchers(!) although typically every airsoft gun has the same electric mechanism at it's heart so the appearances are mostly just for show. In order to keep the projectile flying forward and fast there's a 'hop up' mechanism that imparts a little backspin on each pellet which causes it to fly a parabolic curve allowing the pellet to 'surf' the air and essentially giving more range for the same amount of energy.

In paintball you tend to face off one team against another whereupon you lob expensive and painful balls of paint at each other. It's messy and fun but nowhere near the same league as a day out airsofting.

Paintball is better marketed (from deals like this), that's all...

Thanks to all the people recommending Airsoft.

Sounds fun. I'll have to try it out some time.
