What a ridiculous statement, after possibly one of the biggest price hikes we've seen, all because of mining.

I dont doubt we will see a reduction in price of the 1000 series cards though, well, after the 1100 series cards are released... Bitcoin isnt the issue anyway, its all the other currencies that are having an impact. Maybe the samsung chips will alleviate the gpu price issue but lets be honest that's all well into the future and this is today and 189 is the best price i can find. I am looking for a better price though so if anyone finds it let me know.

'Ridiculous' as it may seem, asset bubbles have been known to go "pop"...the trend is down big time.

It is a good price given the current situation if you cannot wait it out.

No one mines BTC with a GPU - The price of it is irrelevant. Miners will be using software that automatically determines the most profitable coin to mine at any given point.

Good price onthis. Seems like the new normal.

thanks, I deleted my post as it was in pretty poor taste, sorry. We aren't talking about bitcoin though, its the other currencies that are still driving demand. Ultimately it puts us in a poor position but you are right, eventually demand will die down but I dont think we will see a reduction in gpu demand for the next few months only my opinion though.

wooooooo, this is just a thread on a well priced graphics card, not speculation on the future of bitcoin. Sounds like you traded yours for pizza or threw the hdd out with the trash or something Save the bitcoin speculation for your own 'is bitcoin finished' thread.

How on earth is coin mining a Ponzi scheme? It's a commodity like anything else.

Also cryptocurrency is like any other currency, its based on trust and what people think it is worth. The only difference between any nations currency and cryptocurrency is that it is not regulated or centralised by any bank.

The value of a Nations fiat currency is based on it's economy....
You liken a pointless nothing, that does nothing except enable dodgy dealings to a Nations Money...

I didn't say there was...
It does not make this a 'good deal' or the 3gb 1060 anything other than overpriced that will be superseded PDQ...oh and it's OOS too.
unfortunately the price of memory has increased to the gfx board makers quiet a bit so any cards will probably cost more. I doubt any new nvidia models will be out till the end of the year at least.

Its not solely based on a country economy, for example you could have an extremely weak economy with high interest rates, people will still take a punt on that currency for that high interest rate.

If it was a 'pointless nothing' it would be worth nothing. I think the point you are trying to make is that it is intangible? By that token anything digital is just dots on a screen and also worth nothing.

You obviously listen too much to the media, blockchain and cryptocurrency are not evil, banks are actuaclly trying to utilize blockchain technology.

supply and demand is what makes a product a good or poor price, you posted a 1060 in august for just above 200 and it went negative, at that time it wasn't a good deal. That's what the site is about, right now at this moment I believe this is a good deal.

A swimming pool in august will make a good deal at a price, in December the same deal will surely be poorer. If you can find a cheaper deal for a gtx 1060 right now then it will be a better deal, if you cant then this is a better deal. That's just the way it works.

I agree that I'd like to see the 1060 at a lower price by now but it isnt and I cant find one for a lower price. Anyone looking to purchase a gtx 1060 today will come across the same issue hence this is a good price.

I think I've already covered most of that.
Surely, it is value that makes something a 'good price'?
I feel kind of creeped out that you have went stalking about my profile...
Unlike you, I did not bum up the 1060 as some sort of wonderful offer, it was also in stock, unlike yours.....
Anyway, here is what I wrote at the time:

"No one's been posting any graphics card deals, so there is space for this so so one I hope?
Was just on the point of buying a 1070 when the mining craze when up...serves me right for holding off I suppose.
I know it is not ideal, being a lowly 3gb 1060, but this deal may suit someone...It is in stock at present, known UK dealer...."

A cannie bag o' Tudor?
Avoid Novatech. I’ve preordered a 1080ti from the only to receive this email after asking for the price to be reduced to the slightly lower price over the weekend “Thanks for getting in touch with us. I have spoken with our Purchasing Team this morning who have advised that the cost price for these cards has since increased. There is no current ETA from our suppliers but it seems that when the cards are in stock the price on your order will be increased. We can only confirm what the price will be once the cards are in stock with us.” This looks like they will increase the price when they become available. I only inquired if I could have my pre-order dropped to the lower price of £651.56 from the original price I then asked if this was allowed and had a reply “ “Our Purchasing Team have confirmed that this is correct I’m afraid. There is a worldwide shortage on these cards at the moment and because of this the cost price has risen considerably, we cannot therefore guarantee any earlier prices. We will try to keep the prices as near to the original price as possible however until we have received stock we cannot confirm the exact price. “ Not sure whats best now
Sorry copied the text from my other post in the 1080 ti preorder. Basically novatech have said ignore their current prices. If you pre order, once in stock the price will rise and will contact you to pay the difference. It’s not like an amazon price promise

See, the thing is, blockchain can be good or bad.

It certainly isn't worth, oh lets say, 1 trillion dollars.

Let's be honest, 'blockchain' is so over hyped as some 'sweet tech'. It's very limited in use.

At no point has bitcoin or any of the altcoins, been a solid currency.

The 'other currencies' share the same coattails as bitcoin, whether you believe that or not is your choice.

Certainly the downward trend of bitcoin, and the upward trend of bitcoin, are shared by the altcoins.
