Good card should get cheaper within next few days.

Comparing this model to the other cheaper gamerock model

This one lacks:

RGB lighting
Backplate
Dual Bios
Copper base ???

Worth noting this is a 2 slot card and not 2.5 like other palit models.

Best 1070 deal yet - it still seems quite pricy though

Looking good , tempting offer !!! I have a 290 , the 1060 is a sidegrade , but this is just a tad toooooo pricey...when I wish upon a star , I hope for a 289 - 299 price in the near future....but UNLIKELY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Awesome pick. At 8GB is one of the favorites for a Xbox replacement.

Compared with the strix 1060 also on overclockers site at 329 !!! the Palit 1070 looks like a real bargain

For this price and in stock, got to be the best deal so far. Like people have mentioned, not much more than a 1060. Its still a big purchase though. Would like to get a 1070 within the next couple of weeks. Do I go for this one or hold out for a future deal. Decisions.

Well , just think in a month or so's time , stock of the 1060 , 1070 , 480 will be plentiful...prices will start to come down , not dramatically , but will start to drop , you might even start to see some 980ti deals at killer prices , as they cull the last of the remaining stock , perhaps a 980ti at say 269.99 , would be a very tempting deal , in the middle type of offer price wise , older tech , but still great performance.

Just Wondering

So I need to resit the temptation and wait. Easy said then done.

It's way, way, way faster than an Xbox one when paired with a half decent system. I own both.

I fear this may be the last cheap option for a 1070 for a while, it's possibly the last stock not affected by the pound value drop. all other cards everywhere seem to have jumped in price

It's also way, way, way more expensive. Xbox entire system (cpu, gpu, motherboard, sysyem ram, case, power supply, etc) + control pad + game / bundle

On some occasions you could get 2 entire systems for this price. But consoles are a different segment, almost.

This is still clearly over priced (massively) but Nvidia, likely now AMD also (and sellers) are going to guage down through each price section, as is usually the case

Yeah, I'm aware of all of that. I was just pointing out that the Xbox One and a system with a 1070 aren't comparable, performance or price wise.

real pro-gamer will:
not care about rgb light
not care about a useless double bios
do prefer 2 slots especially if in sli and for easy air circulation
not care about plate because will trap extra heat
not sure about the copperbase, not investigated yet
2 years warranty I must say it is poor

Copper plates are normally great to dump the extra heat. These run cool compared with previous generations so its not that big a deal, it is probably Alu anyway - the difference is marginal. I am still running a pair of 780TI and they run just about everything I want. The biggest problem with these cards is that in most case people upgrading will need to do a socket swap / mobo / cpu as these will bottleneck on a lot of the 2nd gen I processors.....

Has anyone seen a completed build with one of these on pcpartpicker or anywhere else? Would give me some peace of mind for my noobie build.

what are your concerns? it's a well established brand if that's what you're worried about

Pro-Gamer would be using a 1080 OC or Titan X any way :P

Double BIOS is actually very useful when overclocking or flashing your card - if you get POST fail or instability you can switch the BIOS to correct the issue. Essential? No. Useful? Absolutely.

Agree on the RGB rubbish, and the warranty.

Compatibility, size. As I say, i am a total noobie to PC building. I watched a few videos and it looks easy enough as long as all the parts are compatible. Can I just use any 2 slot GTX 1070 for reference?

if this particular one isn't showing in partpicker, look up dimensions and find a similar size 1070

Shouldn't be an issue really as these cards are massively overpriced. Remember that people will only pay what they believe the card to be worth. You can put whatever price you want on an item but if you want to sell it effectively then you need to sell it at a reasonable price. Card sellers have got too greedy lately for something that isn't that big a step. £250 should be the sweet spot for this card but I'd pay for £300.

Not much more than a 1060? 1060s are going for over £100 less.

Stock is improving as we near August and prices are lowering, as I had heard. Palit are still on my 'yeuch' list though, because they don't even have a 3 year warranty which is pretty much industry standard.

I might be able to stomach it if this was a mid or low end card for £150, but it's supposed to be a high end card still costing £360. Why would that give anyone faith in their brand?

I really really want one of these, however as I only game at 1080p I can't see the upgrade worthwhile from my 970. SOMEONE TELL ME I DON'T NEED IT PLZ GO FAST MEN

you're right in that it shouldn't be an issue, but it could keep prices high for a bit longer. at the moment all pascal cards are more expensive than launch, and even as they come into stock in august, i think sellers are likely to at best revert to launch prices as the exchange rate will have eaten into their profits. people may surrender to the high prices out of impatience too. plus the titan/1080ti doesn't sound as if it'll be a massive jump, means people are more likely to take the plunge now. (I know this applies more to a 1080 shopper). obviously I have no benchmarks to back this up for now.

Its a fair price, eg I paid £389 gigabyte 770 with 4GB, then £289 zotac amp 970 4GB last week £389 zotac amp extreme 1070 8GB. Its all relative the reality is Nvidia have no competition so prices rise as a result. I doubt AMD will be able to fully compete and its a shame, I have used AMD ATI in the past.

A lot of pro's don't have any say in their gear, the team/org will have sponsors who will provide the gear for them. Even on LAN computers are provided by sponsors, the last CS:GO major for example was sponsored by Asus, nvidia, hyperx and intel therefore the computer would be built with an asus mobo/gpu and hyperx ssd/memory.

Honestly with a 970 I would completely skip this generation of cards.

There's about a £100 spread between the cheapest to expensive 1060's so a £100 - £120 difference between a mid 1060 and this, I feel is rather good.
