I actually think this is fine for the money compared to the competition. Using TechPowerUp! aggregated review data the AMD cards that perform within 20% either side of this are:

Radeon RX 590 - 18% slower / 24% cheaper
Radeon R9 FURY X - 12% slower / Now obsolute so new prices are weird to say the least (above £500 in some cases new, you'd have to go second hand but we're not comparing used cards)

This GPU @ £217.98

RX Vega 56- 6% faster / 26% more expensive
RX 5600 XT- 10% faster / 20% more expensive

Even if you compare it to other Nvidia cards:

GTX 1660 - 18% slower / 19% cheaper
GTX 1660 Super
- 2% slower / 8% cheaper

This GPU
@ £217.98

RTX 2060 - 18% faster / 23% more expensive

I don't think the blame lies with NVIDIA at all, it's AMD's fault for not being competitive.

New gens will be coming soon too, games will become more demanding once that happens. I know it's usually the case and waiting is not the best but if you can do it it's better at the moment. I hate intel and Nvidia for their practices users need to realise we control companies by buying or not, not they us with their prices! So stop buying and everything will come to place.

Somehow I knew you were coming from an AMD point of view. Disregarding Intel’s shenanigans, as we are discussing graphics cards, going by your rationale, only buy AMD even when it costs more. In my opinion, if something offers great value for money, and I need it now, I’ll buy it and not give a damn about a company’s business practices. Life’s too short for campaigns.

Keep looking, don't buy Nvidia till they get their prices right. 150£max this card should be. Castrated version of a card.

It's way overpriced for what you get. it was created by Nvidia for market share due to amd cheaper cards. To shorten up the story they are crooks. Rtx could be enabled on 10 series by drivers by why bothering when we can use this in next gen for marketing. So read more and think before you buy.

I’m fully aware of Nvidia’s dodgy tactics as they have been for many a year. The trouble is, they’re not alone and virtually every company are or have been at it over the years. Business practices aside, for someone who has around £200 to spend on a new graphics card, what would you recommend they do or buy at this moment?

It's a hot from me because I can't think of a card which is a better performer that has better value for money. AMD's 5600XT and 5700/XT are better performers but the price ramps up accordingly and I think overall not as good value for money as this deal, but if budget stretches beyond this deal then they are good value too.

Spot on. Regardless of which company it's all about value for money to the individual and not the masses. I hope the guy/gal above is not using an iPhone.

I wonder how wide the value gap is when you factor in the often big differences in the efficiency of newer generation cards, in terms of electricity cost over the life of the card, and the fact that a more expensive (higher wattage) PSU may be required to run it. Not having a dig, genuine curiosity.

May have an introverted nerds night in one night.... nice spreadsheet, a lamb sondia, peshwari naan & some mushroom pilau rice, few cans of Friels Vintage Apple Cider to lube the engine.... Christ in heaven, I'm stiffening up thinking about it.

Three and a half years ago a bottom end GTX1070 was commonly £400. So there is progress here, this card is as fast for nearly half the price. The 6GB of memory is starting to concern me at this point however. On the cusp of new consoles that will inevitably raise the bar for memory utilisation, there are signs in 5600XT tests and some prior that it is borderline for the odd game at top settings. Poor frametime results. Even at just 1080p.

Isolated occurrences (RDR2, AC:Odyssey, Control), but a sure sign of reaching the tipping point for memory demands.

We're talking about cards you can buy new. How much is a new 1070? Cheapest I can find is £295.95.

So that's nearly 36% more money for the same performance.
I just bought a 980ti second hand. Still tempted with something new even if its cause of the power requirement difference! Seems like a good deal price to performance.

I am not fan of amd don't get me wrong I am using a Nvidia card. Its just wiser to get amd ATM. But hey you can decide for yourself buy this overpriced old product and support Nvidia crooks, up to you. And not a fan of that bitten Apple mate sorry using mate 20pro for 160£ from O2 refresh. So basically I don't like spending money on crappy overpriced products. Better get a second hand 1070.. at least the money will be circulated among people and not fueling those corporations. Think before you buy!
Excellent card for the price and quite powerful to run most games at 1080p 60fps on high settings.

Also runs pretty quiet at about 39db in a well ventilated case due to the large fan. Hot.

Same, thinking of putting my 980 ti, which is still a great card for my 1440p gaming and VR, into my other Sady Bridge rig and getting the 1660ti for my current build, hope to create 2 sim racing cockpits in the spare bedroom for some fun with mates.

Your argument is a little odd. Your Mate 20 wasn't hand-crafted by monks for the good of mankind. It's mass-produced item from a corporation that, in revenue terms, is far, far bigger than Nvidia. Handing over your cash to Huawei is OK, but handing it over to Nvidia is 'fueling those corporations'?

I terms of the card; I'd go for a 1660 Super. Near identical performance, and is frequently sub-£200.

I honestly don't get this AMD bias.
I own Intel, Nvidia, AMD products.
I wouldn't buy a buggier more expensive card for some misguided principle.
The 5700xt is the only AMD card I would personally buy at this time. All other brackets I'd go intel. Dodgy or not.

If you goanna buy, buy it cheap. 160£ for my mate20pro so not fueling any corporations. Less than this card ! Nvidia has crooked practices and they need addressing by not buying old overpriced products to fill the marketing share or compete with rivals. Saying this I own a Nvidia gpu so not amd hardcore fan.

I've bought and returned 3 BN cards since I owned my 970gtx(still with it, paid 120£ 3.5y ago, bought it second hand just before the 10 series went out). I've tested those new gens and was trying to justify my purchases but never happened and ended up returning them. It's all gimmicks and marketing nowadays, drivers making cards slow or speed them up. My g sync screen paid crucial role what cards should I get, all Nvidia crappy overpriced products bear in mind I play on 1080p .In my case I couldn't justify giving my money for those shiny new products, which performed better but not that much to spend that kind of money on them. YouTube is full of videos comparing GPUs spend some time researching. Nvidia stopped supplying some reviewers with gpus as they were honest. I am sure you won't believe me so buy and test. Then think and try to justify your purchases if you can great!

Same boat here... Managed to get hold of a 980ti for £100 and I'm super happy with it. However I am tempted to get something like this for the power savings and freesync support.
