NOTE: Amazon have done something odd here. When I posted there was only 1 card left but "more on the way", but now my link goes to the basic version of the card, and the Super Jetstream is £20 more.

Would DEFINITELY now recommend the Gigabyte Windforce 3 version instead.

The 'normal' version of this card was posted a week or so ago at £445, at which time the Super Jetstream version was £459.99. The SJ version (which has a better cooler so should overclock better) is down by a tenner now, which I think makes it much better value than the basic version, assuming you have enough space for the 3-slot cooler.

I was looking at a Gigabyte one from Overclockers at £455, but there's an extra £12 postage if you're not a regular forum poster, and it seems to have disappeared now anyway. The 3-year warranty on Gigabyte beats this one's 2-year warranty, but Overclockers' return policy is less generous than Amazon's.

Yes, I know they "should have" got cheaper by now, but they haven't due to high demand, mainly from crypto miners. And yes, there's a new one out some time soon, but it's probably several months away.

As this is Amazon, you've always got the chance of returning it if they announce something fantastic in the next 30 days.

EDIT: As pointed out by SavageDonkey, you can get the Gigabyte Windforce 3 version for only another fiver, which is probably a better deal due to the extra year's warranty.

If I was buying a 1080 I would get the Gigabyte one on Amazon for a similar price..

This one Yes, actually I agree. Oddly I looked for that earlier and the best price I could find was over £500. Strange. Definitely worth a fiver extra for the third year warranty.
I'm waiting a bit longer for the price to drop further, apparently Nvidia have got a shed load of these and they can't shift them (too many people waiting for the new 11 series cards).
Without any competition, Nvidia will wait until they've got rid of current stock before they release the next gen cards.
I have the 1070. Erosion of this card and it has never missed a beat. A bit smaller than other cards too. If this was a 1080 TI ( in another dimension say) I would be tempted

This is NOT the SUPER JETSTREAM!!

It is the "Palit GeForce GTX 1080 Dual OC 8 GB GDDR5X PCI Express 3.0 Graphics Card"......the Super Jetstream version is currently £469.99.

Please update your deal, thanks.

If we all colluded properly we could as consumers force these 1080s down in price further. **** nvidia for these high prices.

That's weird - I'm sure it was when I posted it. Will edit.

I'm pretty sure its a shed load of CHIPS, not complete cards. So most likely they'll just put them into lower models in the new range.
The owners of the website get 10% of each order you do as an affiliate account. Whatever you people post they modify the url attached to their account. At so many orders they make a big amount of money.
In fact we are producing money for them by posting deals.
Hopefully this won't be deleted.

I doubt that it's as much as 10% for Amazon. But yes, they certainly attach affiliate links to any URLs you post, and that might explain what happened to my link. I don't really have a problem with that - the site has to be funded somehow. Though when I've had deals rejected because it wasn't a trusted vendor I do often wonder if it's just that the site doesn't offer affiliate links.
I researched more and amazon pays 10% affiliate-program.amazon.co.uk
Imagine this card is £449. They get 44.9 pounds for each card sold thru hotukdeals.com, how many deals we post for them and they all have affiliate accounts with very, boots or all big retailers.
I imagine that they make milions per year from our posts and out of our money.
I am dissapointed that this was not clear and i feel deceived by hotukdeals.com.
Also i ralised that amazon deals get more heat for sure they can increase the heat in order for people to buy and for them to make money.

Up to 10%. From following that page it seems to say 3% for Computer, Electronic, Video Games. Still a healthy fee.
I bet they make over 1 mil/year from our posts and deal findings so basically we produce money for them. Honestly why amazon deals have always such a heat....maybe the owners can vote 100 times and inflate the votes so we can buy more.
I had the Windforce version and had to return it. Cooling wasn't great and it was noisy. Paid a bit more for an EVGA 1080 SC instead and I'm so glad I did. Much better performance.

Thanks for the feedback. On reflection I've decided to just replace my PSU for now (as I'd probably need to do it anyway to fit a 1080) and will wait to see what appears in the next few weeks. If there's no sign of the 1180, and the EVGA version drops a bit from the £495 that Amazon are currently asking, I might get that.
EVGA SC is down to £470 on Amazon today. But I ended buying an EVGA 1080 FTW off ebay with the 15% off US code. No Amazon returns, but it was hard to resist at £391 all in. Supposedly brand new, hope it's not another dodgy ebay deal.

I went for the Amazon deal in the end, since I already picked up a 1070ti from gigabyte but felt the extra £35 was worth it for an EVGA card, plus didn’t have to wait for a refund for an exchange.

That’s a real good price for a 1080, like you said though I’d just be worried that it’s been used/no amazon customer service if something does go wrong.
