This deal won't be of interest to everyone, but it will hopefully be of value to some folks with some basic but important needs.

This a slightly older, entry-level Panasonic 32" Freeview LCD TV available from a reputable supplier at a great price - while stocks last that is!

I've been looking for a new TV for my elderly mother and it seems that the Panasonics rate VERY highly for their ease of use - i.e. good pictures, sound, friendly remote, audio description (AD) support, etc. (see - ricability-digitaltv.org.uk/ind…htm ). The trouble is that Panasonic is also probably the most expensive manufacturer, and whilst there are certainly some odd Panasonic bargains to be had on older models, this really seems to be one of the best deals around at the moment.

Sadly there is little on-line information this model. From my research it seems this is a slightly de-featured 32LXD80 (which had very positive reviews) for the big electrical suppliers. There are however loads of user comments on it at the Argos site (all positive), and a full specification on the Panasonic site. I have also talked with Panasonic and confirmed that it has a lot in common with the LXD80 - just fewer connections and fewer options.

Overall, therefore, this is probably a good quality, user friendly, entry-level LCD set at a pretty good price. Not a bells and whistles full HD set for the absolutely must have everything brigade, but hopefully of interest to someone with some basic needs.

Note that this only has a basic one year warranty, but Panasonic/Asda should be a heck of a lot easier to argue with over the 5 year "sale of goods act" rules than some other suppliers - which really raises questions about the value of ANY extended warranty - hotukdeals.com/ite…=11 (Note also that Panasonic rate VERY highly amongst dealers for their build/component quality, so hopefully this should be a lot more reliable than the unbranded products, or even some of the other well known brands).

Not sure if anyone is still lurking, but FWIW I have now installed this for my mum and lived with it for a week, and it is VERY good. The picture is excellent, the remote is well laid out, all the controls are logical and everything happens very easily and quickly. It's clearly got a lot of horsepower under the hood and in terms of performance and useability I'd rate it much better than our own 40" Samsung LCD, which is somewhat annoying!

Bah, missed it. This would have been perfect for my parents who want a 32" Panny because it won't break, but don't give a hoot about whistles OR bells. Expired, unfortunately.

Funny how I bought it last year for 45 quid used, such a decent display
