Welcome to Hukd's from me too defard and Lewie

I'd always be concerned with any of these model Panasonic Plasmas because of the 'snaking' problem that most users are getting...although aparently now there is a fix that Panasonic can do, but not sure how easy it is to get it done.

The same model was £899 including stand in a Comet store I visited yesterday (however, I can not find this price online - the TV without cabinet is £899 online - comet.co.uk/com…635)

£899 at askdirect.

Is the 5 year warranty still valid?, thought it finished 24th December.

Bought the ped version as I think the stand looks awful!

I love the stand......

I will have to check on the 5year warrenty tomorrow... cheers

No... Panasonics do NOT come with a 5 year warranty. The above poster is corrrect. The offer ran out on the 24th December.... so indeed the prices have fallen but you don't get the free warranty. The best bet for a 5 year warranty is to buy from John Lewis and get them to price match someone like Currys.

I have this tv. It's the best picture that I've ever seen on a flatscreen tv. As someone else has said it's the exact same picture as the TH42PX600. But there is more of a difference than just the SD card slot. It also looks different and the PX600 has better speakers. But the picture is exactly the same.

It's purple streaks that some people are getting sometimes in the picture on their plasma. The user exaggerated when he said most, though he was right to highlight the fact.

As for Richer Sounds I wouldn't touch them! I arranged a pricematch with them over the phone just before christmas, when it came to day of picking up, they changed their mind, the guy was quite cheeky and condascending about it too. If that's what their pre-sales service is like I 'd hate to imagine what their aftersales is like.

I took my business elsewhere.;-)

I think that most sets may be affected. The poll on AV Forums indicates that it is possible. However, I also suspect that most people do not notice it. I have had 2 sets and both had the purple snakes.

I've been a member of avforums for months, I plumped for the Panasonic, knowing some people were having issues. I have to say so far I am delighted with it.

The poll is just a new thing. Admittedly 42% is more than I would have thought, but 31% are a definite know and the rest dont know (seeing the pictures of the fault, I feel they would know if they had them.) People are hunting out certain dvds (only a few) and even then in certain scenes to look for the fault, when the rest of the time the picture is superb. Also only 112 people have taken part in the poll. How many other users who don't have the snakes have not bothered voting? I haven't so far. People are more inclined to vote if they actually have the fault described on the thread heading.

Dont get me wrong if I get any I'll be on to panasonic, but for now I'm enjoying my tv.

Still think it was right to highlight the problem, but dont agree that it's "most" sets, which would scare people off buying IMO a fantastic tv.

the one at john lewis is better coz u get 5 year warrnty and its only £65 more

Thanks everyone, just thought i'd let you know that we're getting JohnLewis to pricematch the tv and stand for £899 with free delivery within 5-7 days and 5 years guarantee.

According to there price match conditions, they will then have this price of £899 as standard within the whole area, so i'll update everyone if they've agreed to do this.

wonderful. i will send them email too. Been waiting for one of this for a while now.

@ realfriendlyman, what info did you give to jl for pricematch, did you do it by phone or email and could you still use quidco, or do you pay at time of pricematch? thanks

Hi mate,

My bro handled it over the phone but they said they'll honour it, so i'll keep everyone updated once i get more info.
It will no doubt have to be handled instore, so i doubt you'll be able to use Quidco, unless they pricematch online as well.

cheers mate

Did you use Ask to price match?

We did a price match at the John Lewis Bristol store this morning, did the whole transaction over the phone and used the ask shop as the price match. The staff were very helpful and although we had to wait a few hours for the office to confirm the ask price was koasha the eventual deal was £899 for stand and TV and 5 yr warranty and free delivery, even though we are 70miles from store.

All credit to John Lewis for their customer service and living up to their price promise.

Im just waiting for my price match same company john lewis liverpool to price match askdirect

i'll be on the phone tomorrow to jl, see if they'll pricematch with askdirect. the pedestal stand is only £799 and that one suits me better than the cabinet stand

Just a reminder that the John Lewis web site could not do a price match, apparently the price promise only applies to their stores.

I bought my TH42PX60 from John Lewis back in May.

This is the constraint of their price match policy :-

The price must be offered by a high street store, the price must be displayed on the shopfloor and it must be like for like (same package - TV & stand etc)

I price matched against Currys, Dixons and Empiredirect.

Find what you think is the best price, then send an email to all the John Lewis stores, the link is here johnlewis.com/Hel…spx, asking for a pricematch with the store(s) you've found, at the price you found.

You can get them to continue to pricematch upto a month after you bought the TV - I got £200 credited to my credit card due to a price match, 2 weeks after I'd picked the TV up from John Lewis Sheffield.

Good luck & Happy new year !!

well i've tried jl for a pm, not holding much hope as the jl tv is sold without any stand (so its not actually like for like - maybe their get out clause) and they have no stands in stock. the jl price is now £899 (without stand)

It's definately worth emailing all the John Lewis stores, because each has their own take on the PM policy, it's down to the managers discretion, I suppose ultimately any sale will be reflected in the stores profit take.

The TH42PX60 TV with Cabinet is priced £999 with Empire Direct, John Lewis (Sheffield) will definately price match Empire Direct, so the tv with 5 year warranty £999

Have just called the Trafford Centre John Lewis store and they are having to get back to me in a few days due to the high volumes of price matches going on at present!!! i want my TV!!!!
