is £599.97 good price then?

Also i was wondering if it is ex-display do you still get the 2 year warranty Panasonic offers on these tv's?

EDIT - just rang Panasonic and their warranties are only 1 year (was looking at the model from Pixmania who offer 2 years RTB - FRANCE lol) !

holy crap that's cheap

i picked up the 50"z80b last week from nottingham pc world for £699

good price m8 heat added

You can find out how long its been on via the engineers menu

Only 51% from Which?

its expired, its gone back to £859.97

if you put in the reference number, it doesnt come up.

it only comes up if u put in the model number and its.....£859.97 like i said.

still a very good price for a 100hz full 1080p tv.

Thats a good(great) price the 42" were going for a around £700 last Nov.

A solid second tier TV(after Pioneer).

Paid £770 for mine from Costco (with 5 year guarantee) a few months ago; cracking telly, even better at this price!

Think it's in store only, Amazing Price!

if you can get it, this tv is ridiculously good. The remote can be a little unresponsive but same with most tellies and its not a problem if you have sky/virgin. Nothing but a pioneer competes with it for picture quality and its last years model!

Panasonic have now changed their range around so you pay loads if you want 1080p this size, there is no advantage to buying their new range, 600hz subfield drive is a load of rubbish, just words on a page. Until a proper LED/OLED comes out this is as good as it gets, this would stand its ground even against the stupidly expensive samsung led's.

this is an amazing price, these are usually more than £1000

tv is fantastic btw

have some heat

Same for me, well happy with the TV at £770, so bargain for anyone getting at OP price.

Can you wall mount this?

Banned

man can mount anything. but yes you can

Just got back from Currys Park Gate Fareham. Gotta say i wasnt impressed by this tv whatsoever so refused to buy it. Poor blacks compared to other tvs, yes i know you can set it up etc so dont go there, and the picture was a little fuzzy compared to most of the other sets. The model in that branch also has various fuzzy lines running horizontal across the screen which looked like a fault. Say what you like about the inputs going to all the tvs but they are all run off the same source. I didnt go there and left the shop.

you really cant be serious about that.. currys / comet are worse when it comes setting up tellies for demos.. they dont even know how to do it and use cheapo cables!! the panasonics are excellent sets and are way ahead many other plasmas.. at this price its a bargain.. pity i dont need one..

Dont get me wrong i know pannys are great sets, got 2 myself, but the one on display in park gate is not a good example of them. To me the picture looked distorted and not because of the way it was set up. Anyone going to have a look at it let me know if you think the horizontical fuzzy bands that occur over at least 5 times on the screen look normal ? Look closely and they are there ;-) I recently got my brother in law one of these 46"s and hes over the moon, and because of that i know how good they can be coz i set it up. But this one looked a little bit 'off' so be warned. I had the intention of coming home with it, but my judgement told me not to.

PS although this has expired i know there are 2 sets in the Southampton area branches of currys - 1 park gate and 1 hedge end. Confirmed at 4:30 today so may still be there ;-)

Crikey, if we all posted after we'd seen a badly set up TV in Curry's then these threads would contain little else :-D.

A great TV at a great price. I've got a 50" Pio KRP personally, but if you can't stretch to one of those then the Pannys are a decent, cheap alternative.

Oh well unlucky. Hate to differ but what you are saying is complete contradiction to every review on this set from every magazine or website worth it's salt - it is essentially the same as the 81 and 85 models minus the freesat and the (advise you switch it off anyway) picture processing crap.
The black levels are amazingly good, watching a Blu-ray of Dark Knight and it is simply stunning, second only to the vastly more expensive Pioneer Kuro (if you can still get one) and comparing them back to back in a decent AV store there was so little in it the extra 1.5k at the time on the Pioneer just seemed silly to be honest.
As with any purchase of this kind go read some reviews, dont take Currys stupid setup as any indication of a sets quality - they can quite handily go in and change the settings to a "shopper friendly" setup to attract the eye of a customer to the sets they have to sell/get best percentages on etc.

Did you not read the bit that said 'i know these sets are good' lol ??

Oh and like i have written - it wasnt because of a bad set up ;-)

Oh and also like i said... i would of had it lol ! And i know a lot about set ups, currys leads, consumer friendly settings, DSG sales staff, etc, etc, etc ,etc LOL

Too true, false advertisement if you ask me. theyre still LCD at the end of the day

c'mon m8. ideally/logically at that price different, both of them should have got some major/critical differences. i've own pio 5090 myself and meanwhile some of my pals own this panny set. we did some comparisons between both sets with a lot of stuff, with both sets using similar resources, cablings and nearly identical viewing environment + the best standard settings both set could achieve/run (not professionally isf).

right from those ancient sd (480i/p ntscs & 576i/p pals) resources to hds (720/1080) we would love to say that pio sets will blow pannys in every ways.

in simple words (apology me but i'm not trying to offense you/anybody here) you can really compare pq of canon 5d mk2 with sony alpha 200 can you?

Seriously, there wasa so little in it that I could barely perceive the difference. Ok maybe if you are one of those types who spends like 1k on a piece of cable to connect your bits together you maybe more critical of eye than myself. I tried them both out at a dealers and really couldn't justify the double price of the Pioneer despite having the money in my pocket for either of the sets.
If you then compare the panny to the next set down the list which was a samsung LCD if I remember rightly, the Panny completely blew it out the water - especially when we looked at some SD stuff, You know what I mean? The Kuro is an outstanding set but the difference between the panny and the Pioneer was closer than the Panny to what was the next nearest set that I was interested in. The (frankly OTT IMO) cost difference could not be justified to what amounts as a screen that will spend the majority of its life displaying Eastenders or CBeebies in our house. There is a difference between the best and outstanding value and we all have our own sweet spots were we can compromise on having the bees knees telly in exchange for TV, bluray, new audio setup and a new computer (and still have some left over).
The entire thing is down to personal preference and the Panny is a far cry from having something major wrong with it as I am sure you can attest to.

u were right there m8 . i didnt say that panny is no good. pz80/85/800 are actually as good as money can buy. i just couldnt stand how most ppl (especially those who acclaimed that they were home cinema enthusiast) can badly overwhelmed with some misleading manufacturers (u know exactly which brand). if u want quality theres no excuse to go for a cheapo lame names. so do ppl spending thousands on there av set but then not willing to spend a little bit to upgrade their resources, interconnections, etc, etc..but then each to there own i guess ;-)

p/s: i too now frequently broadcasting playhouse disneys on my telly probably as much as u do cbeebies on urs too..poor dad i really am

I managed to get a 37PX80 brand new in a box for £250, it may not be 1080p but its still a great set. There are so much hype and gimmicks written about features, Samsung are really bad for this right now.
