not on hardware iircthis model is quite low end anyway

Yes there maybe some very minor variations in certain aspects of picture quality, then there are extra features and build quality to consider. But even though I can be a little bit of an AV snob sometimes, even I accept that almost all (if not all) 4k Blu Ray players play with almost identical quality (no matter what What HiFi says) So this could be a great deal if true.

Plus this is a Panasonic. When it comes to AV, even their "low end" stuff is still very decent. So I wouldn't even say that my caveats mentioned above would even apply to this particular player.

lol - you're quire right - it is a good deal and I got sidetracked after writing but before hitting post!

I was thinking about the 199 RRP - for that you should be in Dolby Vision player territory.

What's the difference between say this and a PS3 which has a blu ray player?

This is a 4k uhd player not a bluray player although plays blurays
Prefer this at £135 at Amazon - Samsung UBD-M7500 Ultra HD Blu-ray Player, HDR, Advanced Smart
Given how cheap an Xbox one is these players don't seem worth it. Same thing happened when Blu-ray first appeared and it was cheaper to buy a ps3 than a standalone player.

Dolby Vision?

This was my thinking given the rrp. Price is fine for a standard 4k player but I'm not seeing that as worthy of an upgrade to my standard non uhd bd.

Unfortunately my broadband is not up to streaming UHD though I'll upgrade that when the contract is up. I've too many streaming services to make BD upgrade compelling but would have bitten if this was Dolby vision.

Never ever had a problem with them and usually get pre orders early. order with paypal if really worried.

I think this basically means that it upscales HD Blu Ray to 4k images which is just standard for a 4k player. Might be wrong though

I doubt it will be added via firmware as Panasonic have saved Dolby Vision for their higher end models such as the 820
