hi,
my first deal, so please be gentle if i've done anything wrong

i think this plasma screen is excellent. the only one that looks better is a pioneer one that costs 50% more.

basically its a 1080p 50" plasma tv (10,000:1 contrast ratio) with freeview and 2 HDMI sockets.

ordering and delivery from TribalUK was fine - i'd recommend them / use them again. just ask if you have any questions - i'll try to answer them asap.

2.75% cashback available through quidco

£10 voucher thanks to edi ;)- Code: 500NOV07

cheers, j.

i didn't include the discounts - the price i paid was £1470 -£15 october voucher -£34.40 cashback = £1420.60

i saw the item in soundandvision's physical shop, but they didn't have stock, wanted a deposit, couldn't guarentee delivery etc.
also they were quiet offhand with me when i went to collect a refund of my deposit, so i decided to get the dvd / 5.1 speaker system and glass table from elsewhere.

and i wouldn't buy something this important from pixmania as i've heard too many horror stories.
fwiw, TribalUK have an 01... phone number with real people on the end

thanks for the vote Alfresco.

Note to j35 - links do not work in the body of a deal post.

Anybody considering this who intends to use it as a tv should make sure that they have seen one at the viewing distance they will use and with an ordinary - not HD - broadcast picture.

To my eyes unless you are going to be at least 20ft from the screen it shows up too many problems to be nice to watch. This is the fault of the TV signal quality & not the TV.

thanks for tidying my post up emma - i sussed that links weren't happening .

chris - i've seen a lot of TVs with various qualities of input, and honestly this screen has one of the best pictures and picture processing systems that i've seen. the image on this tv looks fine at the 8-10 feet distance that i look at it from (no grainyness or harsh edges). i mostly watch bbc stuff which is a better quality signal than the sky/uktv channels. i use a digital input (cable or freeview) but not in hd.

hope that helps,
j.

This place has it for £1599 delivered, with a five year guarantee and a £200 panasonic home cinema kit. Just bought it and its coming monday.

You haven't got a clue - have you!

To anyone thinking of a 50" LCD - do yourself a favour and compare the two - plasma always gives a better, richer more natural picture.

Plasma for me as well, LCD has still a long way to go to catch up in PQ

I bought a 50 inch panasonic earlier on in the year when it was the older model at £1200. I sit approx 9 to 12 feet from it and it looks great. It is defo one of the best purchases I have made. Nintendo Wii tennis is great on it too !!

I'm a plasma fan too, but the better LCDs have just about caught up now.

sorry but theres no LCD that has just caught up to the pioneer kuro 1080p model it blows everything out the water even plasma models and LCDs have no decent scaling image chips never seen a decent picture on one yet.

and yes i know the pioner is top price but have you seen one the picture is so 3D and the SD stuff is exellent on them to and thya support 24 1080p

Agreed, but not that many people have 3g's set aside for a telly.
