Back down to £599.89 at Costco, still £699 at John Lewis.

After reading reviews of many TV's in this price range this Panasonic seems the best value for money. Only downside are reports of poor viewing angles.

"Only downside are reports of poor viewing angles"

How about low brightness and poor HDR performance, not so great out of the box grayscale and colour gammut, backlighting uniformity issues, average, at best, smart platform?

I would save some money and get sammy RU7020/RU7100 or Hisense U7B instead. Or pay a bit more and get an LCD set with direct backlighting.

All TV's have pros and cons.

The Hisense U7B also reports as poor viewing angles and HDR performance. avforums.com/rev…513

The Samsung also has poor HDR brightness and viewing angle. rtings.com/tv/…100

In this price bracket you're going to compromise on some areas. In my opinion from reading the reviews the Panasonic is the best.

Others i looked at were, Hisense U8B, Song 55XG8096, Samsung 55RU8000 and LG55SM8600 PLA. Dealers choice.
Great price...though having been bitten with unreliable TVs recently (LG) I'm determined to get a JL or Richer Sounds standard of guarantee so holding fast...

Just ordered from Richer Sounds telesales, who price matched this. Had to email proof of Costco membership otherwise they would have added £15 in lieu of Costco online membership.

Thanks for the info!
Prices being same I'd rather get it from RS

HDR performance is genuinely not poor. It’s certainly not OLED standard but for this price is actually really good.
Out of the box, you’re right backlighting isn’t the best but a really simple tweak in the settings takes care of it. Black bars are black, colours in true cinema mode are accurate and whites are as close to true white as you’re gonna get on a tv this price.
The only real issue is the very narrow viewing angle.

Thanks! I'll just make the girlfriend sit on the side sofa while I get comfortable directly in front.

LED LCD TVs tend to go a lot brighter than OLED sets, so don't really know what you on about. TV review say that a peak brightness reaches around 290 knits. Cheaper Samsung and Hisense TVs have similar HDR performance of around 260-270 brightness while top of the range LCDs go up to 2500-3000.

Costco offer one of the best guarantee's out there, it's one of the reasons they are one of the first places I look for, Costco give you 5 year guarantee and will refund you in full right up to the last day of the 5 year warranty if TV goes faulty.
Notice they've also got the 65 inch for £849...
Am I the only person that finds a TV having only 3 HDMI inputs in 2019 a bit mental?
Picked one up yesterday, got JL to price match it in store at 599.

Nice, what do you think about the viewing angle?
How come Costco deals don't have to include membership price but Amazon prime deals get listed with non-prime postage as well?

I was thinking doing the same thing. Did they ask you to show proof of membership?

It’s not the best like others have said, but my sofas directly in front of it so not a problem for me.

They said they don’t match Costco to begin with but after a little talking they were going to do it with the extra £15 online Costco membership fee added on - regardless if already a member as the price match would have to be available to everyone and not just members. Although in the end the guy didn’t even add that on and done it for 599.
Seems to have disappeared from Costco's site for now
