The DMC-FX150 features the f/2.8 LEICA DC VARIO-ELMARIT lens. Advanced optical technology accurately delivers the light received by this 28mm wide-angle lens to the large 1/1.72-inch CCD with 14.7-megapixel resolution. The lens unit, which comprises seven elements in six groups, including an EA lens and four lenses with five aspherical surfaces, is designed and manufactured to LEICA's stringent standards. This advanced lens design ensures that the images sent to the CCD are high in resolution, low in distortion, and clear from corner to corner.

The iA (Intelligent Auto) mode includes MEGA O.I.S. to detect hand-shake, Intelligent ISO Control to detect subject movement, Face Detection to detect faces in the frame, Intelligent Scene Selector to detect scene conditions, Light Detection to detect the brightness level and - new to the DMC-FX150 - AF Tracking to continually track a moving subject and keep it in focus. These six functions work automatically and simultaneously in iA Mode to optimize your settings, making it easier than ever to take beautiful photos every time.

Intelligent Auto Technology
New LUMIX cameras not only prevents blurry, out-of-focus photos with one-touch ease, they also automatically select the optimal shooting mode, all thanks to Intelligent Auto Technology. With LUMIX and Intelligent Auto Technology, it's easy for anyone to take great photos anytime, anywhere!

I can't find this camera on that site at all?

Good price IMO, always liked the Panasonic compacts.

The wisdom of 14.7Mp in a compact camera is questionable but Panasonic cameras are generally top of the tree. I'll reserve judgemet on this one for the moment.

Diff types of camera really, TZ6 is miles better overall... but is less 'Compact' than this camera. Its an Ultra-Zoom. Depends what your wanting.

anybody have a review of this camera?

found these image samples and they look pretty good:

I downloaded these ad tried to test their proportions, and they don't crop well to 6x4, you end up having to chop off top and bottom. anyone experienced this before?

here's the review:

The FX-150 was reviewed on DP Cameras as part of a "Premium Camera" group test. It did pretty well.

"This is one of those cameras that passes our most important test; it can be relied on to take a decent picture in a wide range of shooting conditions with point and shoot simplicity - crucial for the typical user of this type of product."

This is the page that covers the Panasonic and is well worth a read if you're tempted by this offer and have a look at the conclusions page too.

Digital cameras shoot at a ratio which produce prints of 14" by 10.5" or 7" by 5.25".,

There will always be cropping but most online printing sites allow you to print the full image without cropping. Only an issue when it comes to mounting in standard frames or albums.

how it that compare to samsung nv100hd ?
the movie in samsung is 1080p

Hi there ramccann,

I have nikon D40 digital camera and the ratio is perfect for 6 x 4 - which is why I ask, do you think thats a one off? or do some manufacturers have different ratios?

I think that's a rare exception. Perhaps it's just Nikon. I just ordered some freebies from Jessops and half of them were 4" by 5.25". They looked ridiculous but I presume it was my fault for not specifying what I wanted them to do!

any idea how I could find out this ratio when looking for cameras?

Is it me or is this a bit of a chunky monkey ?

try the FX500 as an alternative from camerabox - couple of quid cheaper at £148 inc. delivery and better spec (you don't need 14MP). last year's version of the FX550 (top of range for their compcts) which is currently £220 on Amazon

Agree..I bought one of these this week from camerabox and it is really good..I wanted a proper 25mm wide angle in a compact size camera so this fits the bill.

This does look chunky and 14mp is a bit silly on a compact camera size sensor, I would rather pay the extra for this hotukdeals.com/ite…l-/

However it is still a hot deal!

great deal! the camera is amazing!

stonebear, these are the sizes, its actually smaller than the one you refer to:

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX150EB
Dimensions H54 x W96.5 x D25mm

Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ6EB-K
Dimensions H59.6 x W103.3 x D32.8mm

is the TZ6EB really that much better for being more of a Chunky Monkey? Look at the depth of difference in teh casing, about 8mm thicker 7mm wider and 5mm higher?

Thats because the sensor in your D40 is bigger to that in the compacts!! Doh!
