Panasonic DMP-BD60 Blu Ray Player £95 @John Lewis Outlet (Swindon)

Found 7th Mar 2010
I know this will be limited as I found it at the John Lewis Home Outlet in Swindon yesterday (may be in other Home Outlets).

They had a huge stack of them there and also the more expensive DMP-BD80's (think they were £179)

Picked up the Panasonic DMP-BD60 for £95, just made it region free (DVD), can be made blu ray regin free with hardware mod.

Has USB and SD slot on front and profile 2 with ethernet which also connects to youtube etc via its Viera cast.

These also used to suffer from freezing while playing blu rays, thats now fixed with the recent 2.2 firmware update via ethernet (or dvd).

Nice player and very happy so far.

Great deal OP. I paid £152 at Xmas from Amazon, though got 8 free discs (7 from Panasonic + 1 from Amazon) but that offer is now finished. Cheapest at moment seems to be around £137 with no discs. It's a terrific player by the way.

good deal
which method did you use to make it region free?
haven't got round to doing mine yet.

To answer my own question care of AVForums using a oneforall remote, I'll let you know if it works when I get the opportunity to try:

prepare:
1. Press DVD button on remote
2. hold magic button until the DVD button blinks twice or the LED blinks twice
3. enter device code 0490 (DVD button blinks twice or LED blinks twice)

program buttons with the following codes:

1. 00191
2. 00120
3. 00065
4. 00180
5. 00143
6. 00155
7. 00122
8. 00117
9. 00129
0. 00123

1. Firstly Press DVD Button
2. hold magic button until the DVD button blinks twice or LED blinks twice
3. press 994 (DVD button blinks twice or LED blinks twice)
4. press magic
5. enter 5 digit code from above
6. press button (1,2,3 etc..) where to program it (DVD button/LED blinks twice)
7. repeat steps 1 to 6 for all keys.

Switch on DVD player, make sure there is no disc in it.
Press the One For All Remote buttons in the following sequence
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 0

Then simply wait until the Panasonic makes it self region free (takes a minute or two).
When its finished it will not actually tell you its region free, just simply try it with different region DVDs

Don't Forget to re-program the Remote back to 1=1 and 2=2 etc....as per the steps 1 to 6 above when you have finished, where step 5 would now be 1, 2 etc... and NOT the 5 digit code.

Your right this is the method I used (you need a one-4-all to do this) with my one-4-all I had to repeat this step:

1. Firstly Press DVD Button
2. hold magic button until the DVD button blinks twice or LED blinks twice
3. press 994 (DVD button blinks twice or LED blinks twice)
4. press magic
5. enter 5 digit code from above

for each of the buttons, the way it reads on AV forum it sound like you just do this step once not 10 times.

Worked fine with my old URC 7562 one-4-all

Do they price match their own outlet stores?

After working out that code 994 is the same as Keymagic on my URC 8302 got this working:
ie
keymagic
dvd
magic
5 dgit code
key
for all 10 keys

Just called them and they say they don't sell them any more??? : (
