I have been after one of these for ages and after looking around to buy before VAT increases it looks like they are out of stock in a lot of places so may be being discontinued?

I reserved this on Christmas Eve at Argos in the hope it would be reduced before I went to collect on Boxing Day as it was overpriced compared with the online retailers and my wish came true with a £101 reduction!

It is now a clearance item at Argos and can only be reserved for store pickup.

Only £11 more from Richer Sounds, which would allow you to take 5 years of SuperCare cover for a further £35 (SuperCare gives you your money back if you haven't claimed on the policy, unlike most extended warranties, as well as a free loan machine whilst any repair is taking place).

A couple of friends have Panasonic DVD recorders with failed DVD drives; I'd say that with the combination of a VHS VCR mechanism, a hard disc and a DVD recorder, something will probably fail within five years of use.

Yeah, I tried to get one from Richer Sounds. That deal is instore only and when I rang the Leeds store to ask about stock they said they only had them left in branches on the southern coast and wouldn't transfer one in for me as it was a discontinued product. Service with a smile!

This is my first deal post and I'm amazed people seem to vote cold just because they don't like the product, even though it's a very good price as it's a saving of £101 on the Argos price and £161 on RRP. Probably won't bother in future!

Speaking for myself, I didn't vote hot or cold. If I was buying one, I'd try to get it from Richer with Supercare, but if I couldn't, or didn't want Supercare, yours is a good price.

Paid about £40 more for the mutiregion version a few months back - I think this is a good deal if you can't get the Richersounds deal. Appears you can hack this for multiregion too:
