Panasonic eneloop basic charger (not quick) now £17.49 and was £24.99

Pretty good price I think:

Features:

• Timer control
• Can be used worldwide
• Supplied with four AA batteries

What does the Eneloop BQ-CC51 Charger do?
This Panasonic charger is a basic model that’s designed for occasional users. It can charge up to four AA or AAA batteries, in multiples of two. The charger runs on a range of voltages (100V to 240V) so it can be used worldwide. The charger uses a low charge-current to ensure the batteries have a long cycle life.

What batteries are supplied with the charger?
The BQ-CC51 charger is supplied with four Eneloop 1,900mAh batteries – which are ideal for cameras, games console controllers and torches. These batteries can be recharged up to 2,100 times and will retain 70 per cent of their charge after 10 years. The Panasonic Eneloop batteries are pre-charged, so are ready to use straight from the packet.

Basically having it sat there, on a separate tab, whilst I debate whether to actually purchase it or not

What about the warranty?

What about it ? It's from Maplin so if it's sold in the UK then it has at least 1 year warranty and you could argue the EU 2 year warranty rule.

Maplin won't last 12 months, they'll be gone in 2.
Personally I would buy an intelligent charger with display (to show charge) to you know the state of your batteries (so you can "refresh" them if holding low charge) and buy the batteries separately.
The Ikea ladda batteries are rumoured to be eneloop pro's and have tested to be equivalent in performance. Only £5.50 for 4 AAs

I’ve heard a different rumour, I read somewhere that Amazon basic’s rechargeable’s are the same
eneloops are the daddy of the battery world. Agree with searcher2 that buying batteries separately and an intelligent charger is a better long term proposition. It would be nice to know if other non branded batteries are indeed eneloops in disguise, as i have tried a few and the eneloops just seem better, last longer, hold charge better out of use etc.
Wait for maplin price to drop further..
Maplin are DEAD, the receiver is only keeping the stores open to shift stock...

I wouldn't spend there before they went bust, but if you want to gamble...

For some things yes; but buying battereis is a low cost/risk item so I would'nt hesitate if the price was very good...
