Looks like a smart bit of kit.
Not paid attention to price but I've seen in a couple of maplin branches.

However, personally I'd steer clear. Nice kit but looks like at attempt to get into automation and security by Panasonic that didn't take off and they've likely ditched it. So support will go... This is the problem everyone's piled into this market. Stick to the established stuff, is my advice.

For an alarm system, I would never go wireless. My smartthings just tell me of water leaks and are programmed to flash lights in the house if someone is outside or Windows/doors have been left open when going out. My alarm system is traditional wired.

why would you go wired over wireless, both systems rely on an internet connection for notification?

Wired because it works standalone with full tamper circuits and battery backup. Hard to defeat. And no internet involved - I get SMS via a 3G dialer and calls via a landline.

Wireless is very easy to compromise "remotely". Either the alarm won't sound when it is compromised, or the occupants will switch it off, after it has gone off at 2-5am every night for a week....
I think this will be a cheap good alarm system for my garage. I have a monitored Verisure system for the house but it doesn't cover the garage... thanks op
With regards to wired/wireless. I'd love to have more spare time to use, to hook in my pi to original alarm sensors and then call smartthings to change virtual sensor so the house could use a hybrid of wired and wireless sensors. Using an original box I'd then be able to check tamper too.

Last year I started my own smartalarm with the pi and got the pi side programmed in a basic logging state, then started the app, but I lost time when doing the app side.. got a baby now so tube and sleep is rare lol

If people show interest then I might try and adapt my original pi code so it works too call st API?
I have this and I'm not impressed by it but this is a very good price for it.

There's a kick-start er you might be interested in, it uses everything from a wired system be the core of the alarm is replaced with a smart device..

kickstarter.com/pro…yst

I'm considering this as the alarm is place and from the looks of things I can then add wireless parts on top of the system.
