Have a Sony mirrorless with Sony and sigma lenses and Panasonic bridge. Bridge is cheap, convenient and practical option for casual photography. Imagine carrying similar zoom lens for mirrorless or dslr.btw Dslr has become old school.

This is with an ILC with a fraction of the zoom. Its not as good a 'picture' granted, i didnt have the earths shadow to highlight the craters and ill admit youve simply taken a better picture (i never taken a picture of the moon before). Your exposure looks better. But in terms of pure detail id say there is more potential in the ILC (open to debate of course!)

And bare in mind, the moon is an easy target (my photography skills withholding!). Its bright and doesnt move (probably why Nikon make a thing about it with there superzoom).
actually on second look i think there is more detail on the Bridge even considering the picture is better composed.
Ill try on a clear day and see if that makes a difference (I was shooting through cloud!)
I had a similar model to this before, and then switched to a Sony RX100 iii. It’s a good camera, and smaller to carry around, but I miss the great zoom on my previous LUMIX bridge, and it’s also easier to hold and aim. This FZ82 has been £200 in the past and hasn’t changed much in price for about two years but I’m waiting for something better as I feel an update is due and I’d hate to buy this right before a new one is released. Some people prefer DSLRs and that’s fine but there’s still a solid market for these bridge cameras for those who don’t use it as a professional camera, or full time hobby.
39874312-zDOVe.jpgI took this on a bridge camera two nights ago.
I dont photograph the moon but I use this camera for record shots of birds. Yes the photographers with other cameras will get better pictures if the bird stays still - but I have my camera out and the photo taken while they are fiddling with the lens. Paid more than this for it so voted hot.
I have the earlier version (FZ72) and know a couple of people with the FZ82. They're great value for what they are - the zoom is amazing as is the automatic mode.

It does have limitations, for example Manual Mide isn't fully manual (camera adjusts ISO/SS even in manual mode) and has limits for long exposures (60 seconds in Starry Sky mode). That said it's an awful lot of camera for the money.
This was £180 last year at Costco. A deal I posted. So not much of a bargain hotukdeals.com/dea…847
The zoom is great i was in Saudi last month and took a picture from a mountain of a clock tower 6 miles away and it was very impressive, maybe it was 4 or 5 miles as the crow flies.

Just held it in my hands and took the shot. This wasn’t almost quiet full zoom.
Is this camera suitable for someone new to photography? I want to start taking landscape photos as a hobby and have never used anything other than a basic point and shoot camera.
If not, can anyone recommend anything else suitable for a similar price please.
