Seems like a great price for this Panasonic body I've had my eye on for a while. Most decent deals on this recently have been around the £799 mark.

Currently 'awaiting stock' (5-7 days) but accepting orders. They had some this morning so probably not far away.

Blurb from the site:
The Lumix DC-G9 offers a 20.3 live MOS sensor and is capable of 20fps and 4K60p video capture, making it perfect for both photographers and videographers alike.

How's this for 4k 60fps video? The gh5 has been more popular on that end so far.

From what I understand, a significant firmware update at the end of 2019 bumped up the G9's video capabilities significantly. The GH5 would still be the go-to for pure video, but there's much less in it than there used to be. G9's priority is stills, with highly capable video features on the side.

Quoting from an updated Digital Camera World review post-firmware update:

The Lumix G9 v2.0 firmware update adds significant new features and value to the Lumix G9. It adds compatibility with Profoto Air Remote TTL-O/P and Profoto Connect-O/P devices, new AF-ON: Near Shift and AF-ON: Far Shift functions to prioritize nearby or distant subjects respectively, Animal Detect AF mode and enhanced video functions. The Lumix G9 will now offer 4K 30p/25p 4:2:2 10-bit internal recording, 4K 60p/50p 4:2:2 10-bit HDMI output and VFR (Variable Frame Rate) shooting in full HD (2-180 fps) and 4K (2-60 fps) and HDR video recording is supported.

The new firmware as mentioned by @Smurflor has made a big difference. This is a great camera. I'd really like one but it's a bit out of my budget sadly - although I've just spotted they're offering 12 months interest free as well!!! Best price for quite some time (best price ever IMHO was £799 with the standard 12-60mm via John Lewis - but it only lasted a few hours over a year ago). Best most recent price was at Christmas by Wex for the G9 body, 2x batteries, battery grips and free 25mm lens for £899.

This video talks it through well:

if you get one update the firmware as lots of extra options.

Also look at some of the kits e.g. with Leica lens, extra grip, batteries etc.

it's a great camera, love mine.
Best camera I ever had and at this price it is superb. I have a feeling they are clearing stock for a new model to arrive. I might by a second body near October before I go (hopefully) on Safari again. And indeed the new FW is superb and added most GH5 features to the G9.
Up to £799 now, which was still considered a 'deal' price recently but there are currently several places to pick one up for that price. That wasn't the case yesterday though, so still not a bad price if someone was looking to buy.

Removes the dilemma of whether to take the plunge for me at least
Thanks both for your advice
