What makes this better than my iPhone 13 Pro camera?

Far higher lense quality, better sensor and higher dynamic range, provides far more control, easier to handle.

But if you can manage with a phone its not aimed at you.

I'm a camera technician and own this camera for general travel and hiking. It's probably the most compact full frame camera on the market at a really respectable price for the specs. I also hire it out on fatllama and have probably nearly made the cost back from minimal effort.

First I've heard of Fat Llama. Thanks for mentioning, I've now signed up so will be listing my Cannon EOS 650D and lenses for hire.

Would you consider this a suitable camera to buy into as a first 'proper' camera? - I've researched a number of cameras like the M50, Sony 6400 & ZV-10. However, im on the fence after viewing youtube comparisons between these and the pixel 6 pro that I have and in the result they came out pretty similar in terms of image and video quality so it's been hard to splash the cash on something that I may not take full advantage of but at the same time, one that is a noticeable improvement in image quality that is still compact and portable to take around. (I'm not into Vlogging so the priority would be for photos). any suggestions or maybe alternative models / lences would be really helpful to know : ) (edited)

It’s all about your budget. If I were you, I would buy a cheap body and lens for the beginning and see if I will like photography. Also, investing to lenses is always better than paying money to a camera. This camera is one of the best in market right now but it will just be the beginning. You will pay more money for lenses if you buy a full frame camera.
It may be better with a second hand body and lenses and if you mind their weight, than you should look for m4/3 ecosystem.

Currys should price match, and if so you can use their promotion to claim a free lens:

"Claim a FREE Panasonic Lumix S 50mm F1.8 L-mount lens worth £429 when you buy this product."

Though it's Currys still so up to you if it's worth it

I'd love to know if that's possible. I'm all in if so.

The depth from defocus autofocus is still rubbish, but absolutely everything else about it is top class
