The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX500 Digital Camera provides 10.1-megapixel resolution with a 5x wide angle f/2.8 Leica DC lens (equivalent to 25 - 125mm on a 35mm film camera), features an Intelligent Image Stabilizer based on the renowned MEGA O.I.S.(Optical Image Stabilizer) and includes Intelligent ISO control. The large, 3.0-inch LCD display provides a beautiful and clear way to frame and view your images and also provides intuitive touch-screen operation. There are also a variety of advanced functions, including Auto Focus (AF) tracking which continuously tracks the subject and adjusts the focus, even after the AF is set, which is especially helpful for catching active children or pets. Plus the iA (Intelligent Auto) mode is a helpful shooting assist function that lets the user leave all the settings to the camera. Taking maximum advantage of this iA mode, users can then go a step further to set auto focus and exposure on the desired subject by simply touching it on the screen. The camera also provides true HD motion picture recording and HD slideshows complete with music. There is even an optional cable available to provide HD output so that you can view your movies and images in true HD quality. For more intuitive operation, the DMC-FX500 has a hybrid control system that combines joystick control with touch-screen operation, allowing basic settings to be directly controlled by the joystick. Other extensive controls are finely adjusted by touch or by moving a slider on the screen with the finger or an included stylus-pen. This beautifully designed digital camera is easy to use, comfortable to handle, (thanks to it's slim body), and can appropriately be used both at a family gathering or at a formal event.

Hope this deal benefits those heading for the sun. Had been looking at the prices for this model for a couple of weeks and was about to order it from ukdigitalcameras.co.uk but their price went up from £240 to £299.99. The camera was - and I believe still is - available from other websites with no - or not-so-positive feedback at c. £224 before delivery. Thought e-buyer's deal was great. Ordered one yesterday, got it today. Box has a security seal reading "ebuyer security checked". Box also has a Panasonic round sticker "Overseas Use Only". Camera is Made in Japan and so is the battery cell, but the battery pack has been assembled in China. The operating instructions are in English and Japanese.

The black version was yesterday just over £209 incl free delivery but for some reason price is currently showing £2624.48!

Also had a look at the SONY CYBER-SHOT DSC-T300 (also with a touch screen) and found some interesting prices on ebuyer with potential savings of nearly £60! Check for yourselves this link: ebuyer.com/sea…y=0. Any idea why the prices of the two silver-coloured models are so different?

I have been looking for compact digital cameras last night, and this FX500 was my favourite from ebuyer. best price i could find.

Can someone comment on the quality of this cam? I have always been attracted to Canon, but the reviews are good for this one. What about the sony?

Its very expensive tho, the FS3 is probably a better buy its £109 at Amazon, what advantages do you get for the extra £100 layout ?

I have an earlier version of this camera same thing less pixels. Takes great pictures just such a shame it doesn't have a view finder .

Not sure why people are voting cold. At the end of the day this is the cheapest price for this camera. I don't think it should get compared to other cameras, especially older models. BTW, I thought this deal would appear amongst the deals but the only way to find it is to search for it. Did I do sth wrong when posting it?

Ive not voted either way, but its alot of money for what it is thats probably why its voted cold, there are cheaper alternatives avaiable
