Sorry, having a slow day today! Great price & voted hot.

What do u mean by no "auto flash"

Excellent camera, terrific price. Hot!

Great camera, bought just before Christmas. Take some time to understand basics such as shutter, aperture etc and you will take even better pics. The auto function works great most of the time but if you want to get creative it helps to understand a little bit!

"Auto Flash". Just means that it doesn't automatically flash without input! You need to pop the flash up (a little button) and then if it is required it will flash. Just takes a bit of getting used to if you are used to a compact.

The FZ45 (and FZ100) both have an improved zoom range and better features but from all the photos I've scrutinised the FZ38 has superior image quality.

Great price on a great camera.

You have to push a button to pop the flash up. Otherwise you only get an indicator on the screen that the light level is low.

Tempted!

Bought, thanks.

Great ca,era save for the slight barrelling at the end of the zoom. Lovely crisp images though, i went for thos over the TZ8/10 Grab a cheap bag from Jessops and you're set.

I have owned a couple of the lumix fz38 and returned them due to noise when using indoors, pretty bad actually. Also the viewfinder is pretty useless, to small and the diopter adjustment is easily moved. Having said that it is still a great buy when you think about the lens and you can also add a filter.

For the money, I think the Fuji is better. The saving can be spent on cases/memory-cards, spare-battery, etc.
I tend to prefer the Fuji colours (in good light). Both camera will be noisy in low light.
However, as technical comparisons, the Panasonic is better overall (better features).

just another question, does more mega-pixels mean a better camera/picture ?

No, i have 5 million pixel cameras that take better images than some new 12 million pixel cameras.

Apparently the FZ45 has even more noise at 'high' iso's.

No, it's really not that good.

dpreview.com/rev…asp

The FZ35 is the same as the FZ38, just numbered differently in the US.

Excellent camera, bought one on eBay a few days ago for around £100 so I'm well pleased especially as it looks like new. There is actually a sticker on the box which shows it has an rrp of £359.99! At £180 this is still a great price, hot from me

Don't buy the Fuji, I had one and sent it straight back. Terrible picture quality!

I bought mine last week at £199 from Dixons and that was cheaper than anywhere else.

I'm no budding photographer, I only wanted something to take good quality snaps of my girls - and it does just that (and probably a lot more if I ever get 'round to reading the user guide). I love it!

I did loads of research before buying - it won quite a few awards and gets brilliant reviews. I've read that it gives better quality photos than the FZ45 too, so no need to buy the more expensive upgrade.

how does this compare to the earlier DSLR sony camera?

The DSLR were 300 ish, are they worth getting or this

I've spent most of the night looking at reviews for this camera, youtube vids etc. any reason why a lot of these cameras have a electronic view finder rather then an optical one ? Bit of useless information as well, the thing about this camera & I'm sure the same for others that have the ability to record, is you cannot record for more then 29m & 59sec in one go, as European ruling class it as a camcorder if you can record for longer in one go, thus subject to a different tax.

Re viewfinder, I'd imagine it is because it is not an SLR so has no mirror to bounce the image off of in to the eyepiece, it just shows what the sensor is picking up?

Has anyone got any links for deals on:
1. Bag for this camera
2. Spare Battery
3. Memory Card

Amazon for the battery £4.95 free P&P, also Amazon again for camera cases for the camera. someone else might come up with some idea as to the best place/price for the memory card as I'm not sure on the best make.

Oh God !

I had just convinced myself to buy a TZ8

Is this better?

Its low light conditions ,school plays, pictures in night clubs etc that I want it for
although the TZ8 will fit in a handbag easier
