I'm a photographer and my first camera was a bridge camera, load of crap they are, good price for this but you're better off spending a bit extra to get an SLR camera

hmmmmmmm ............ thanks for your views frmarirolu ...................

I hav added the heat for da price but would rather get a DSLR for an upgrade when i get a good deal .

For those who would like to see what this camera is capable of - rather than getting into a Bridge vs DSLR debate - flickr.com/gro…35/ (FZ35 is the US version - same camera). Enjoy

Usual Pixmania cautions apply - likely to be foreign model with European plug, French instructions and no UK consumer protection.

Banned

Cold because its Pix selling it.

Price is not bad & camera is decent despite what I read above

If you were a photographer you would appreciate that it's not all about the camera, but rather the person behind it.

Nice bit of kit for a decent price. Big fan of the compact Lumix range. Granted, they don't always come out on top for pure image quality, but are built like tanks and a pleasure to use. Heat for moi.

Great deal ok have some heat

Nothing wrong with bridge cameras , iv been using them for years !!

Image quality is, in my opinion, disappointing but that's the same on every pixel squeezed compact camera.
My 'built like a tank' model is still in for repair - but I get what you mean.
After nearly a year of use I was just getting used to it when the zoom failed on me, compared to other bridge cameras I've owned or used it was quite frustrating.

It has enough good features to brush all my complaints aside though.

You're probably right if you're talking about image quality; but you can't spend just a bit extra to get a decent SLR and lenses.

Forget about comparing to a real DSLR, how does this compare to the likes of Fuji HS10? forget about price for a minute. Is the image quality of the HS10 better/worse?

dpreview.com/rev…up/ is a good starting point for such comparisons. Note the fz35 is the same as the fz38.

They favour the Panasonic, some of the images don't appear to match the conclusions to me, though the white text on black background makes my eyes go funny after a while so becomes hard to tell. But they have lots of samples to make your own mind up.

Good price, but will not shop with Pixmania.
