excellent buy

Great camera.

Bargain at this price.

excellent camera.

ive had a few of these on ebay for £180 for ages (new)

shame it doesnt do RAW file pictures

Returned mine. Viewfinder is awful and the dioptre adjustment is really easy to move, also images indoors suffer with loads of noise. Better going for a TZ series camera at least you can put it in pocket.

Rather than the TZ series why not the Fuji HS10 - only £210 from fuji refurb with 1 year warranty and using code PSPEND.

P.S. I agree about the FZ38 being less than perfect; very good at what it does right; but for me very frustrating to use. I'm currently waiting for mine to be repaired (zoom motors failed within the year - according to the guy in Comets it's a common problem - but I couldn't vouch for that...).

Good value at this price nonetheless...

Thanks.

I have just ordered one!

From the reviews i read before ordering it, it seems a very good camera!

Got this in July when it was at £215 and on the whole have been very, very pleased. Macro is superb, and it can even capture four of Jupiter's moons at full optical zoom. Ok, image quality is pretty noisy in low light situations (unless you can take a long exposure, in which case it's not), but apart from that it is an incredibly capable piece of kit at this price.

Here's a shot I took of King's College in very poor lighting conditions. To be fair, it was a 15 second exposure, but I defy anyone to spot any ugly noisy artefacts in it, even at original size-

Worth every penny at this price if you ask me.

I also took pictures of Jupiters moons with my FZ38 - unfortunately it's that sort of situation where the poor noise handling stands out; still it's amazing to see Jupiter Io, Europa, Callisto and Ganymede captured inside your camera. I wonder how much better they'd look with the Fuji HS10's 30x zoom? [EDIT: Not much better judging from the photos I've been looking at online]

This was the hot one to have last Christmas at around £250, so good price, no doubt due to the newer FZ45 being on the market.
I have the FZ38 & the later compact TZ10 and to be honest the photo quality of either is very similar, though for some reason HD video is much better and smoother on the FZ38.

I could tell you how my 6Mp Lumix FZ7 produces subjectively better pictures (Venus engine II ) than any of the latest FZ's oO but that's a whole new can of worms ....

video quality is better due to better light input on the FZ38. I'm going for the FZ45 as my next camera. CEX have it for £190 on A grade where they have FZ38 for £180 (just £10 less). Just waiting for my local to get one.

Just love the 24x optical zoom
