This was at £199 before, and launched at over £600. I just picked one up from Argos in Kings Lynn, and it is a beautiful mirrorless interchangeable lens camera.

Comes with Panasonic 14-42mm zoom lens, and can take lenses from Panasonic, Olympus and Sigma. Perfect replacement for my ageing 2nd DSLR.

I still have the old G1 which I love using when I don't want to carry my Canon SLR around with me ......don't ever see me getting rid of it.....but this deal for the G3 is very tempting....not the latest...but newer isn't always better.....HOT

Might be worth considering the G5, spotted in Currys today reduced to £179, extra £20 for the next model up

which Currys was that in mate

Saw this a week ago but decided to pick up the refurb Canon 1100D which turned out to be crand new instead of refurbs. This camera looks fantastic though. Heat.

Better off with an FZ200

Yeah if you catch Currys at the right time in store you can pick up some proper genuine clearance camera bargains at the mo..

G3 is a great camera and this brings it down to 2nd hand pricing so hot from me, if you can bag the G5 though it's well worth it, faster processor, faster AF, upgraded touch screen and I think Currys give 2 year warranty now.

For £159?

Very nice great reviews and plenty of stock very hot deal thanks op

All gone now, locally to Manchester and for delivery. None on Currys website, fwiw. Great find, OP!

Very nice if you can get one, but very noisy for a mirror-less camera. G5 has a silent mode for extra £80.

Why exactly? Have you compared the image quality of a micro 4/3 sensor compared to a tiny compact sensor?

Great camera i had one but an accident happened

a guy asked me to borrow it for half an hour at tower bridge london as he forgot his camera

he said he would meet me back at the ticket office at 3.30 (half an hour later) to return it.

I waited until 4.15 but he never showed up, so in the end i had to leave london and get back home, so I neevr got the camera back

I guess the guy got delayed, I imagine he must have tried hard to locate me but failed in the end to return it

SHame as was a good camera

So you give your cameras / valuables to anyone on the street who would ask for them? If its true, rare to find people like you!

Funny thing about con artists...most do seem to be genuine...

Yes, that's exactly what happened. OMG I can't believe I found you on this website - such coincidence! I'm so incredibly sorry about the way things turned out. Not being able to return your camera has been tormenting me ever since...

I came to meet you, but I was too late I guess. I had to borrow someone's laptop to transfer the images, you see... The upload was a bit slow and so I was delayed. Funny turn of events, eh?

As I'm really a genuine guy, I'd like to return your camera now. Could you send me a tenner via PayPal for postage costs along with a scan of your driving license or passport - I want to confirm that you really are the kind person who lent me their kit. I'll also need a recent utility or council tax bill so I can verify your address with Royal Mail and make sure the Lumix gets to you safe and sound. My e-mail is: totallynotaconartist@srsly.com

Lots of bargains at the mo depending what you want.. Oly EPL5 can be had for much cheapness, Oly EM5 used with warranty £350 ish.. Sony NEX and Fuji bargains to be had if you look around

When they're just out - yes. This camera is about 2 generations out of date now, so they're probably getting rid of the last stock.

Great camera though, had it for a good while. Pretty much the same quality images as the low level DSLRs, especially with the kit lens. Biggest plus on this thing is the smaller size and the MUCH bigger viewfinder compared to the fingernail size viewfinder you get on entry level DLSRs.

Thanks for making me smile guys, great stories are what makes this place great

before you buy this camera you should check out the prices of the other lenses , i have the G1 and new lenses are not cheap might work out cheaper to buy a bigger slr ,,,, but i do like my camera , but maybe in hind sight i would have bought a canon 600 or something like that

Bought one earlier from St Helens as it is an absolute bargain at £159.
Although it isn't quite up to the quality of my Nex 6 it isn't far behind especially considering it cost £159 and my Nex was £749 when It first came out 18 months ago.
It's far better than a bridge camera as the sensor is several times larger hence better low light capability .
It only does 1080i (interlaced) video rather than the more up to date 1080p (progressive) but I have compared the video at 24fps with my Nex 6 set at 1080p and can't tell the difference.
The Nex 6 however is better at 1080p 50fps during panning as that framerate causes very little jittering.
Seems to have gone out of stock now around the Liverpool area.

OMG
Miracles really do happen

Are you still in the UK my friend - or back in the USA?

I knew i could trust you, someone in here actually insinuated that you were a con artist, as my brother but I knew in my heart of hearts you were legitimate

Ill drop you a mail, if you are in the UK id like to meet you, not only to collect the camera, but i intend to take you out for a nice meal, maybe claridges if in London?

I feel bad now depriving you of that camera, but some good news- I have a 2nd hand Canon EOS 350D here, it works perfect, I could offer that to you for free so you are not without a camera?

LOL at the 'totallynotaconartist/goodsamaritan' story going on... The G3 is a pretty decent lil 4/3rds mirrorless camera (better than a bridge cam of similar pricing, but not as good as a full size DSLR with the right lens... also half the price of a full size DSLR)

Wow, you're so kind it's untrue! Maybe we could photograph our fancy food with our fancy cameras. Gotta keep that instagram material coming lol

offtopic (or actually shall I say on topic) - I really have the G3 and it's a seriously good camera for the price tag. Get it if you want to teach yourself photography. Entry DSLRs are overrated and mirrorless always wins IMHO. Next I'll buy full frame, but you can search on 500px & flickr to see what people have snapped with their G3s.

Why are you switching to FF? Assuming you have a lens or two at m4/3, have a look at the Olympus and Panasonic offerings as well. The OM-D series is great, same goes with the GH3/4 and GX7 from Panasonic.

Agree about the G3. At this price it is a steal!

the fz200 does produce remarkable pictures for a compact. they're not g3 like but they are good. they're extremely passable and the camera itself can do so very much more than the g3 ... however: you'll be hard pushed to find one for less than £120+ more. it could be argued that you're getting more (£ for £) with an fz200 but at £160 for the g3 it's a damn close call...

Great camera at this price. Compact, ultra-flexible, good images. I have one, paid a lot more for it! The decision you will have to make is whether you want to move into the world of M43 (micro-four thirds: the expanding mid-range format which looks to me like the best price/performance area). The supplied lens is OK, but if you invest in other lenses you will have the basis for a lasting system. Unless you are looking foryour next snapshot camera, and don't want to plan to invest in a system, then by all means look elsewhere. There are many mid-range bargains.

If you look at any manufacturer's range of (tied-in) add-ons, then buying into, (say) a cheap Canon body will mean that you are in their domain. If you move to M43 then the world is your mollusc of choice. There are multiple upgrade paths available, including some excellent third-party stuff, including (eg) a wireless remote control for less than £20. You won't want one? . You won't want to upgrade? Pull the other one...

I'm not up to date with cameras, I do have a good Panasonic lumix bridge camera. love it but going on a good holiday and wandering if I should go for a new one as mines a few years old now.. ( about 5 years )
Can somebody tell me if this one is a DSLR please, and if its worth changing for my bridge camera, which is 18x zoom and I think its 7mp.
Thanks

I have looked on currys, amazon, and other sites and none say dslr just telephoto lens but as its a detachable lens
I thought it was dslr. just thought somebody could give me a yes/no answer as been looking for nearly 2 hours now.
I guess its not in that case or the sites would say its a dslr.
thanks anyway..
