Buy this (or any other Panasonic digital camera) if you like lots of grain in your photos above ISO 80.

Take an SD card and do lots of test shots before you buy.

The TZ10 is a great compaq camera, a little pricey but this seems the cheapest price atm so voted hot
For anyone whos interested, theres a review of it here

If you're willing to wait until they get more stock, you can currently order it ]from Play for £279.99. If you want it now, Dixons looks like the best bet.

Even @ £295, I don't see what justifies the £75 premium of this over TZ7 @ £220 let alone bigger premium over TZ6 (no HD Video) @ £176

This is not worth twice as much money as the TZ65 @ Currys et al. No real improvement over the TZ7. That must be why they jumped it up 3 notches in the model number stakes (TZ7-TZ10).

Not really worth it unless you really need the GPS and such. TZ7 has better IQ than this!

Good advice on the last point, but totally unfair opening point there. This sweeping generalisation is rubbish. Panasonic have not suffered any worse with this size sensor and mp count than most other mainstream manufacturers, but some of their other units are excellent, market leading for their class (the LX3 case in point).

And no, I don't and never have owned a Panasonic. I am however, evaluating the market in this class with a view to a purchase - with a level head.

A little unfair as there are few reliable reviews yet to form a view on the IQ. They may have squeezed an extra couple of mp out of the sensor, but have improved the OIS greatly (apparently). The TZ7 is a proven winner tho, and for the price difference, why spend extra if you don't want GPS, and are not fooled by the pixel count? Well maybe the "Power OIS" vs "Mega OIS" could be the difference, but it'd have to be good for £100! I'd say that the jury was still out.

An interesting discussion on the old and new models..

PS: If anyone can find me a stonking deal on the LX3, i'd be grateful....!

God, I can't agree more.

Update for Dixons.

07/04/2010 - Current Price 296.99,
Use code Easter5 for 5% discount (14.84 off) (allowed to be used with quidco)
Go via Quidco for 3.2% (still seems to track at 3.2%, even though states 3% on page) (tracked at £9.50 on 296.99)

282.15 - 9.50 = 272.65

272.65 is pretty good, happy to pay an extra £70 quid for the GPS function but wouldn't want to pay much more on top of the TZ7 (Amazon £199)

Sadly this offer finishes in 10minutes!

This was for the Black Model , would have preferred Red , but now £299 at Play.com and out of stock, up from £279 last week
