should drop further, has been cheaper with cashback deals last month or so
decent saving over others though just now
Nice, will hopefully drop a bit further with the new model out soon.

The TZ200 will probably be £700
A nice camera that finds a solid middle ground between the 1" pocketable compacts like the RX100 series and G7X II, and the larger enthusiast grade bridge cams like the RX10 line and Panasonic FZ1000. That being said, it also sits a little awkwardly in between them too- it's larger and not truly pocketable so it's not as convenient as its smaller competitors while its not as versatile as the larger ones. The viewfinder is a bit odd too, definitely worth trying in person before lumping up the cash!
I'm not sure why they went back to a 10x zoom on the latest TZs where previous ones were 30x. Yes, I understand all the quality arguments but they are pocketable (just about) travel zooms (hence the TZ) and that extra reach is really useful. I must have had five or six in the series but I think I'll stick with my TZ80 now.

they didn't go back, they have also updated the smaller sensor range to tz90

Don't understand your comment. The zoom on successive TZ models increased until it reached 30x on several. The latest ones, like this one, are 10x. As I said: I can understand that there are advantages to having only 10x but for a travel zoom camera I find 30x is often very useful.

I’d never buy a Panasonic LUMIX again, after the last one we had failed because a small plastic cog had lost a tooth. Had to write off a £200 camera for a 2p plastic part. And why are Panasonic using cheap plastic parts in key components anyway.

Despite the name, the tz90 and tz100 are parallel models and neither is an upgrade to another, think of it like the iPhone and its plus version, it's similar to that. The naming is pants so I can see why you might think the tz100 is the successor model to the tz90 when it's not.

He means the successor to the tz80 is the TZ90 which is available now. The 80 and 100 were released at roughly the same time but aimed at different audiences. The 80/90 is aimed at those looking a super zoom. The 100 at those looking for the 1 inch sensor and better overall quality of photos without needing the x30 zoom.
Brilliant camera. The zoom is only at 10x as the sensor is so much larger than most travel zooms. Bigger sensors need bigger lenses. 20x digital still looks really good on this.

as said above - they didn't 'go back' they kept the 30x zoom range with smaller sensor and made more of them after tz100 was released (including your tz80 and the newer tz90)
thats not abandoning it to those that want it - its a parallel range
the similar naming is pretty stupid though
This or wait for the Z200 (RRP £720 thou)

I wonder will the Z100 still be produced or will the Z200 completely replace it. If the Z100 goes sub £400 I'll buy

Nice deal anyway, cheapest price at present, heat added

they are surely going to have both models going at the same time - tz100 highest price on amazon since introduction was 550 so its not even come down much in 2 years
if it tz200 really does sell for 729 and tz100 cease to exist thats a massive amount of customers lost imo as a whole new price level for what is basically a jump in zoom and very very minor updates otherwise

I see Wex have matched this price now online, maybe the new RRP from Panasonic for the TZ100 although all others are still £525 or so but a lot of retailers have no stock which made me question whether or not it will still be produced.

TZ200 still on preorder, phoned local Wex and they are still awaiting stock, but all online stores are £725 preorder. Can't justify the extra for a longer zoom and a s you say a few minor updates.
