Spotted this on the Easter deals , seems to be a few good things around the back holiday. There maybe a £10 voucher as well.

Bought one of these for £400 about 15 months ago, was looking for an Upgrade and thought this was a corker of a deal. Basic description below:

The Panasonic Lumix G2 black digital SLR camera kit gives you complete control over the images and movies you capture, with a range of technical abilities for the ultimate in photography. This camera comes with a 14-42mm lens, and you can operate your digital SLR via the vari-angle touch screen, that allows you to select and slide between images, as well as take full control of your shots.

£189.97 collect from store, with £10 code. Thanks op!

does this qualify for the panasonic cash back deal

this or the gf3 for a novice or stick with my sony w270

I think this is a mirrorless system that is not up to scratch when compared to a DSLR, from what I could make out of the reviews (annoyingly almost all reviews that I have read and not just for this camera are useless giving you everything else but a low down on the performance-it seems they are all scared to death of saying anything bad in case they get left out of he freebees that reviewers get).

Pleased with my G2 - especially with the 20mm (SLR equivalent 40mm) prime lens. This is a much better price than I paid

which code works on this?

Definitely not although the G3 does.

The GF3 is a lot smaller, like a compact, and better suited to smaller lenses.
The G2 is more of a slightly smaller DSLR and has better features: a good quality electronic viewfinder, retractable TFT.
If your top priority is better features and handling I’d go for the G2. If your priority is compactness then go with the GF3.

will this make a noticeable difference to normal family shots compared to my cheap sony w270

How much difference you notice is dependant on your eye sight but this will allow you to take pictures in lower light levels and provide more creative control but if you keep it in auto mode then you will be wasting money.

It's way better than a compact camera. You can also buy adaptors and use old film lenses with it saving a lot of money if your happy to go manual instead of full auto.

Ever so very tempted.... btw, can you buy different lenses for this?

I currently have Canon S95 and adore it, would it be worth getting this for the next step up??

Great price for this, cracking little camera.

Yes, in low light. If you nitice the advantages of your Canon over lesser compacts, this will be the same, but more so: The sensor is MUCH bigger.
However, the S95 is lovely and small, and can't be beaten for its size. This Lumix is a bit chunky.

Ta, still toying with the idea. I LOVE the compactness of the S95 and the power that it packs in, IMO the best camera available in that size.. however going on a three week honeymoon in June to Singapore, Malaysia and Dubai so thinking this may be a good investment...

With the S95 I can experiment loads and take some really nice photos, I guess this would allow even more flexibility? How far is the G2 off an entry level DSLR say the Canon 1100D?

Hmmmn. Torn between this and the GF3 (with £50 cashback).

Honestly don't know what one to go for.

I was after Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ45/FZ48, but ordered this one. Hope it is better. Cheers op...:)

How much for the GF3? I believe I have seen the GF3 in Costco although cannot recall the price.

There's £50 cashback off the 45-200mm lens; H-FS045200. Usually about £230 so fairly cheap at £180.

If you take a lot of indoor photos then a compact camera with back light sensor would be ideal. Also go for a faster lens i.e one with lower F numbers.

I would choose GF2 over GF3, since GF2 has the hotshoe.

Damn this is the camera my sister wants for her birthday, yet I'm skint and don't get payed for another 2 weeks. Sucks to be me atm.

As mentioned....
Don't forget to use the following to get a further £10 off!!

Is the GF2 same as the G2 (in this post)?

No the GF2 is a totally different camera, suggest you check out some reviews and make your choice.

Great find. Thanks

Thought as much.

How about Olympus E-pl2, I simply bought one for 198.97

Just ordered.

Gonna have a play when it comes, had a good compact and looking to stray into the DSLR world. Looks like a good start.

How much am I looking at for lenses?

Good review here, was £600 when reviewed and got 87%

So tempted, why do I come on here????

u definately need better quality than that

Amazing bargain - ultra hot !

brilliant small size camera (micro four thirds) packed with cool features, and a nice build quality

ordered with £10 off

Can anyone say whether or not this would be a significant stepup from the S95 to justify spending the extra 200??!

OK, done it, will put my practically new Lumix FZ38 on ebay.................

I have S90 and GF2. Depend on which lens you have on the GF2, the different can be quite noticeable. What subjects do you normally shoot? If kids or babies, GF2 with fast lenses can provide faster shutter speed. It focus faster too, and touch-focus is extremely useful in this situation.
