Only display model left

Good luck everyone, you're gonna need it.

I've seen them in at least 2 branches in and around Aberdeen, admittedly at £179.97 3 days ago.
Don't expect to see this online, if store have one they tend not to show up.

Yes .97 does mean clearance, yes it could be display. However many stores display stock sits in a glass\Perspex cabinet. So could be completely unused as I bet the battery is in the box.

Have look, you may get lucky, you may not.

Till yesterday the price was £179.97 when I rung store yesterday. But today it was £149.97

Was this body only, or did it come with any particular lens ?

It's a complete panasonic G5 kit with seal.

I found a store that has one that is ex display but the battery is missing and the sales guy said that it would be 'sold as seen' with no way to test it.

Does anyone know whether they are allowed to sell it 'sold as seen'?

Also, do you think it's worth it being ex display and without a battery?

Which store did you get it from, was it sealed. and were there any more in stock?

I've been looking to get this Camera for the past few weeks but the only one I have found is the ex-display one as per the above (with a battery missing).

I must be tired. I still can't see it. Somebody mentions it's "complete with seal"... does that mean with-lens, and if so, which?

"Complete kit" so it will have 14-42mm (28-84mm equivalent) lens. There are some kits with a telephoto too but I doubt these are.

Good cameras, great price but make sure it's all there in good condition!

Thanks :-)

I think what confused me was the picture... that looks like the 14-42 power lens, rather than the standard kit one.

Great deal thanks op. Just picked up one from the Rugby store body, lens etc. Was the last one in store and the display model so not 100% new but still very pleased for the price. Guess there are a few out there so just luck of the draw. Good luck everyone!

Are these cameras literally on display, or are they kept out back due to stock clearance. Just went into Wakefield store and was told unless it is in display they have none in stock.. There were none on display I could see, but great deal op.

Hey, I managed to get one.

It's got a few cosmetic small dents/scratches on the metal part of the lens (possibly from removing it from the security holder when they took it off display?) but it seems to take photos fine.

Also, it has got a small scratch on the white sensor on the front (I think it's the AF sensor) does anyone know if this will affect performance? It seems to focus fine..

Forgot to say, thanks OP!

FYI, the guy in store mentioned that if the price reduces further in the next week then they refund the difference and I seem to have gotten a 2 year guarantee with mine

if any one interested is one in Stockport , without box , ex display, I got mine from Manchester Ancoats brand new , after I asked the sales agent to go and check in the back , as he wasn't aware of the deal.
Thanks OP

focussing is done through the lens. I think you're referring to the focus-assist light. start to take a picture in darkened conditions - half-press shutter - and a light will be emitted.
a light scratch shouldn't matter.

Thank you very much for the info, I'm a noob with this camera stuff but will start reading up on it. I checked by taking a few pictures in darkened conditions and they're all in focus so it seems fine.

Also, if anyone wants to check the shutter count (I just did this out of curiosity since mine was ex-display - it was 550 btw) there is a how-to here:

The guide is for the GH2 but it's the same for the G5.

Thanks for posting this. I was mooching around a pc world and they had one on display in the Merthyr area and jumped for it. (last one)

Not the latest or greatest but I am sure it will do the job,

I had a G5 until a few weeks ago before I scored an upgrade to a G6 on eBay at a great price, the G5 is my daughter's
I can assure you that you're not really missing out on much. I mostly wish I'd simply waited for G5 prices to fall more and just bought another.

I bought one of these the other day from Currys (£179ish) but took it back as the lens kept sticking when zooming out. Tried another at a PC World and it was the same, but was selling at the £149 price. Tried yet another at a PC World and again got the same issue. As these were all demo ones, I had thought it was the tie-wrap for the security tag causing the problem thinking they had over tightened them on the casing.

I'd like to hear back from anyone with a new one or demo one if the zoom lens sticks. By this I mean it judders and is not smooth in operation when twisting out.

I have the same issue (mines a demo one) but just assumed that it would get smoother with use?

Edited by: "Rahulg247" 11th Jul 2014

Thats what I thought, but having tried a few its either a manufacturing fault or the way they affix the security tag?
