Panasonic Lumix LX100 - £589 down to £389 after £200 cashback @ Wex

Panasonic have just doubled the cash-back on a range of their cameras, in this case the LX100 is now slashed by £200 after the rebate.

Arguably the one of the best high-end compacts on the market and at this price something of a bargain.

Cashback is direct from Panasonic, so is as guaranteed as you can get - I've made numerous claims on other models in the past and all have been honoured within a week.

Absolute steal. Paid £599 on release and have not regretted it.

Quite - had I not just bought a GM1 I'd be hurling money in the direction of my chosen photographic retailer.

Hi
Not OPs fault but this is apparently wrong on the part of WEX
Anyone interested in this offer may wish to check carefully. The Panasonic Offers Website states Cashback is £50 normal Cashback plus bonus (double cash back ) of another £50.00 and also confirms total Cashback as £100.00
NOT £200 as stated

Great camera. I have Panasonic LF1. Heat

£200 looks legit to me. Just checked Panasonic website and states £200 total for the LX100.

Haha. I never use my Nikon DSLR anymore just compact. I have Panasonic LF1 and I'm tempted by this too.

More money

This camera has bad jpg compression and terrible lens flare, I thought the RX100 was a lot better and more compact.

Yes I believe it's £200 cash back on this camera. Just a heads up for anyone looking at the FZ1000 advertised on this site as they suggest a £200 cash back via their tab, but it's only £100 at Panny!

Great great great camera, I have been wanting it for a couple of months, I went through all the steps before confirming the order. I decided to double check the review on
http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/panasonic-lumix-dmc-lx100/10

When I looked at the samples in my photo viewer, I was like "mehhhh...". The resolution is a little pathetic... The lens is sharp and everything, the control should be great. But why would I want to carry a camera that has less resolution (the Panny is less than 12MP) than my phone.

If you feel this is the camera for you, place your order quick! I found it is out of stock on ukcamerastore standalone. But if you buy it as bundles, you can still place the order:
http://www.ukcamerastore.co.uk/cgi-bin/ss000006.cgi?page=search&SS=lx100&PR=-1&TB=A&ACTION=Go%21

I personally would go for the one with the spare battery - you would need it anyway.

Ordered mine yesterday!

WEX do a identity check which'll show up on your credit report and stays there for a year.

Very nice. But have to resist!!

Forgot to say, spotted this earlier today, sorry ! £340 anyone !

The Sony RX100 is smaller and has more megapixels, but the Lumix LX100 has a bigger sensor, faster lens, and doesn't feel like bits are going to snap off in your hand.

SUKKA CAMMRA NO ENUFF MEGAPIXELERS!!!

Decent camera, although I believe it to be true regarding the lens flare .

hi - are these things really a substitute for a DSLR (for the average user)?

Yes. This has smaller sensor than Nikon/Canon budget DSLRs but this is offset by a better lens.

Image quality would be similar but it's smaller (so will be used more) and has better controls. More direct comparison would be Panasonic, Olympus, Sony or Fuji mirrorless camera. But this holds its own against them as well. If you were to replicate this camera by getting a small mirrorless body and a lens you'll either spend more or miss out on some features. For example Sony Alpha 5000 with kit lens may be of a similar size but has no viewfinder and controls are not great.

Thanks for the advice - currently have a D3100 which is great IQ wise but can be a bit bulky for casual use so something like this could be worth thinking about as something you can just take anywhere etc.

JL just price-matched for me, down to £540.

Same here

Had spotted this myself today, seems to be a lot of cashback deals on the Panasonic site, but definitely one page stating the £200. Have dropped them a line to confirm and submitted price match to JL. Been after this camera for a while, but just not affordable until now!

The cashback page is a bit confusing. There is a section stating the lx100 cashback is doubled from £100 to £200 and then a page saying the lx100 cashback is actually £50 then doubled. When you go through to submit the claim it comes up with the £50 fee. I don't want to order the camera and then get stung on the cashback

I have the D5100, so I know what you mean. It I only gets taken out when I can be bothered carrying around a larger bag. I also have an old pint and shoot (Lumix TZ5) but it takes forever to focus, and low light is awful - which isn't great for young kids running about the place. So for me, the LX100 will get aired a lot more, which will mean I get more pics of the kids. I'm hoping it will replace my pretty much retired TZ5, my video camera, and those times when I can't be bothered to take my DSLR (but if I did, then I would have taken the kit 18-55 lens, and a fast prime lens). Which will be most of the time, for me. DSLR will still get used about the same amount of time as it does now, as I still expect it to produce better photos than the LX100.

Ok seems simple to me. This page shows the latest Panny promotion will be in the top left hand corner.
Click it and scroll down until you find the appropriate page LX this seems to be the last one, good luck.

It is too early to claim as you have to wait 28 days from date of purchase. If you click through the claim button now, you can see that it thinks that you are claiming against the promo that started 6th July as you are trying to submit a claim too early.

You need to wait until the claim process opens up for the 27th August offer.
