Why buy a bridge with no viewfinder?

Step 1: Google "EVF vs optical viewfinder".
Step 2: Find a bridge camera with an optical viewfinder.
Step 3: Come back to this thread and edit your post with what you have learned.
Step 4 (optional): Like this post ^^

This camera has no EVF. I suggest you check your facts before you make such fatuous comments.

Technically a good camera, but the lack of an EVF is a real limitation.

Good price but lack of EVF is a deal breaker for me.You can really struggle in bright sunlight just looking at an LCD screen to line up your shot.

Well you save a tenner

It’s a valid opinion to share as sometimes outdoors it can be almost impossible to shoot if you are reliant solely on using the back panel TFT. Even an EVF is better than no view at all.

And your point is????

Lack of a view find (electronic or optical) is a real limitation of this camera when compared to others or its type.

Not concerned about what was said in the past on other threads. In this thread a valid point was made in a calm manner so seems a positive sharing of a view rather than a negative.

"knew".

It was a question, not an opinion....and I had already voted hot because it's a good price for a Lumix, which will give the kind of results that that Hitachi thing you posted won't. Unlike you (apparently) I can be objective! It's always amusing to see how precious you get about your posts though. Are you similarly unpleasant in real life or is it reserved for HUKD?

I also didn't mention that I just bought 2x LZ45 (with evf) for £99.50 each at Tesco (on clearance)

I dont understand all the whining. it has a 3 inch lcd as the viewfinder. so its not like there isnt one at all. I use an older Lumix often with a big screen evf, and its no problem. on sunny days i just put the backlight on full. and if the sun is shining directly on the screen just put my hand over the top as you would with your own head when trying to see something. for the price it seems pretty decent

What's EVF?

The lack of a viewfinder is an issue amongst the "pros"

However, its a panasonic lumix bridge, its £90!! Everything else will be good quality. Most "non-pro" people make do without a viewfinder on their compacts and travel cameras anyhow so its no different. If you were wanting serious photography and in need of a bridge, you wouldnt want this camera anyway.

Hot price for a decent bit of kit, viewfinder at this price, irrelevant

Thanks for the deal! I am interested.

By the way is there any real contender at this price level?

Hi, I've had the Fujifilm AV120 for a couple of years now, if I got this one would I notice a big difference in picture quality?

Thanks

Electronic ViewFinder (as distinct from an optical viewfinder or normal electronic screen).

I agree with you up to a point but whereas the space saved on a compact by having screen only is important, on a bridge a viewfinder makes little difference to the size so is nice to have for those situations where it really helps. The assumption is that bridge buyers are moving on from just simple point and shoot compacts so they are likely to appreciate a viewfinder. It's for this reason that you'll generally find it's only the bottom end bridge cameras which do without.

Contrary to 'youchoose's precious comments I think this is a decent camera at a good price but I think many shoppers would do well to consider the viewfinder issue and may be prepared to spend a little bit more to have this facility.

My panasonic bridge camera has both an optical viewfinder and a screen...

Why is everyone banging on about the lack of a viewfinder on a bridge?? Surely the lack of supporting pillars and and struts is much more important. No way am I driving my car on that bridge!!

I've got the model before this one (IIRC) and for me it takes fabulous pics. I'd recommend it. Hot.

I've no idea why you'd jump to such a conclusion.
The only Apple item I have are a pair of those earphones I picked up off the street.

Copying is ingrained in Korea's culture so I guess there's no helping it.

Nope: they had two - I bought two - none left. No point in baiting all the Tesco haters out there! However, I did post a reminder that these Tesco clearance deals are still happening as I subsequently bought 2x Lumix S3 cameras for £14.22 each.

You just have to keep a lookout in-store and get lucky as they get snapped up pretty quickly but they are happening around the country.
