Panasonic are releasing the TZ18 and TZ20, which will replace the TZ8 and TZ10, in March. Expect prices for the outgoing models to drop in the next few weeks.

Same price in Sainsbury's I believe.

as with canon 100 prices came down - could drop further but may not be stock
but wort knowing new models likely

I saw Tesco (Hookwood near gatwick) selling off their display TZ8 fo £109 the other day...but knowing how demo models get messed about with it may not be a good deal!

TZ8 v TZ10 is the only difference, the latter has GPS? cheers

I have been mulling over buying a largish zoom still camera with movie mode as this one over a camcorder and a smallish stills camera. I went for camcorder that's really small and even has stills (which are not very good) and glad I did as it has opened a whole new world of photography to me. I am now in the market for a small credit card size stills camera!

That is the main difference, yes. And while I would really like GPS for geo-tagging, I read that it does not work very well on the TZ10 (takes ages, drains the battery etc). So for me it is either the TZ8 or waiting for the next model.

TZ10 also has a choice on HD video compression (so you can squeeze more footage out of a memory card) and an HDMI port.

Ive been waiting anxiously for the Canon S95 to fall in price, however its very popular and never seems to drop below 300

The TZ8 doesn't have HD does it ?

Yeah, it does. It records HD (720p) in Motion-Jpeg format at 30fps

I have a Canon G9. Is this better than my camera?

Id doubt it... The TZ range is very much in the 'Travel Zoom' range, the Canon G Range is a high end compact range with tons of manual capabilities. Very much a range targeted towards the purists. The TZ's are much more accesible though.

Maybe if you're asking that question a T8 would be more suitable.

The new TZ20 will be £350, and as far as I can tell its new features are an extra wide field of view down to 25mm, with 16x zoom, and 14mp.

Also some touchscreen ability, but the FX77 is far more cutting edge, with no buttons on the back

Given the fact that your camera is £300 + and this was £149.99, then probably not! Comparing apples and pears comes to mind.

It seems there may be a mismatch between the user and the camera-to help out I will buy the TZ8 and swap with your G9?

I have a TZ3.
What I's like to know is has anyone made a similar "upgrade" to a TZ8 and noticed any improvement in the photos?
