Looks brilliant and a good price too! Not sure if you've already bought one but if you have, can you tell me if this can do a 'Spin Only' cycle? Thanks...

Hope you like your new washing machine! Once you have had a chance to get familiar with it, could you possibly post a couple of comments as to whether you like it or not, is it as quiet as the reviews say it is and if it has a spin only cycle. Thanks in advance...

If you zoom into the photo of the same product of on the John Lewis website you can see that it has a 'Spin' option on the control dial.

Great price for a Panasonic. Owned the 168 for a couple of years and been faultless, and they can spin at a touch of a button.

The LG at Currys is no longer available for delivery

It's a 7Kg washing machine too which is really light. Easy for transporting home.

I've asked JL to price match as this is a bricks & mortar shop.

We shall see.

I have owned a Panasonic washing machine and a separate tumble dryer for five months. Both perform great when they work. The washing machine has been replaced and the tumble dryer is waiting for engineers to fix a fault, which seems to be very common according to Amazon and the first engineer. Wouldn't touch Panasonic again with a bargepole.

I'd rather deal with JL, not questioning the store reputation at all.

I'm sure he doesn't need my help after 40yrs trading.

I know what to expect with JL plus they are local to me for any problems.

Brilliant deal but I bought from Electrical Discount UK. They have 4% cashback through Topcashback/quidco and if I convert to clubcard points with the 5% bonus that is worth about £25 to me when Tesco does it clubcard 2x points thing at christmas plus 1% back from my credit card.

So effectively £310 minus 50, 25 and 3 for me making it £232 for a top spec model with a five year parts and labour guarantee.

I don't think Panasonic reliability is as good as Miele, Bosch, Siemens or Beko but definitely better than indesit, hotpoint, hoover, whirlpool and the awful rebranded low end chinese models (yes I know these Panasonics are made in China).

Probably about the same reliability as Electrolux/Zanussi/AEG/John Lewis models. However also bear in mind these Panasonics are very efficient and will have real savings in power and water use. They are technically very advanced even if not as reliable as some others.

Fair enough. Good luck fella

I install/deliver appliances for a living. there is no way on earth I would buy a Panasonic washing machine! TV yes but not a washer!

Wouldn't touch a lg direct drive rubbish 3 years drum gone..
Lg call out fee £79
10 year direct drive warranty is rubbish

Manual here;

States it's printed in turkey so likely the washing machine is made there too.

A quick look shows its likely to be a clone of a vestel high end model which seems to offer a near identical spec.

I've got one of these Panasonic washing machines. They're are absolutely rubbish, also accompanied by Panasonic's rubbish customer service. I've had nothing but problems after problems with this and Panasonic were not able to fix it or replace it as they keep saying the washing machine is fine even though through every cycle it makes a loud banging noise about six times and I get error messages when trying to operate it. but apparently this is Ok (Panasonic engineer).

I've heard much better reviews about LG. So I think that's what I'll get for my next one.

Reviews of the sister model (none of this model on the site)

you're correct, they are vestal machines with a Panasonic badge stuck on them. Also bear in mind the warranty is an insurance policy not a manufacturers guarantee and it's carried out by service agents as Panasonic don't have their own after sales service. This can be good, but my 20 years experience in the industry says generally poor.

You pay your money and take your choice. If you buy thinking your getting a good machine cheap you'll be disappointed. If you buy knowing its a cheap washer I'm sure you'll be fine up until it goes wrong.

Freezing Cold, north pole conditions. Not a Moto G.............................

I have had my Panasonic washing machine for 3 years now and have not had a problem with it. I just make sure I drain the gunk out of the drain hose and clean the filter, both of these are at the front of the machine so really easy to do. Clothes come out looking great and not damaged unlike my old Hotpoint that I had before.

It is a manufacturer's guarantee even if carried out by third party service engineers. I don't think this is that uncommon. I think it's more likely to be the exception that a company has its own service network across the whole country such as indesit/hotpoint. Lets face it indesit/hotpoint will always be kept busy enough to maintain a large network, just about the least reliable appliances on the market. Also some retailers like dixons group have their own service network for products they sell. Most sub-contract repair work I believe even Miele. I don't think this is a fair criticism of Panasonic at all. A quick google shows LG, Beko, Samsung, AEG subcontract to national repair companies. Looking on this page they only list Indesit and whirlpool as companies with a national repair network.

ukwhitegoods.co.uk/hel…tml

I also feel Panasonic do a good job of re-engineering products that are made for them by other manufacturers which is a lot of Panasonic products nowadays.

As for Panasonic reliability last time I saw a chart for that it was in the same area as Samsung, Zanussi, AEG, John Lewis and well above indesit, candy, hotpoint and hoover. Just above was LG and then above those were Beko, Bosch, Siemens and Miele. For Miele 8 people out of 100 will have issues, more likely 12-15 for Panasonic and at the bottom end as many as 30 out of 100. As you can imagine for the price I paid (not that cashback is guaranteed) for a very efficient, high spec, large capacity washing machine with the peace of mind of a 5 year comprehensive guarantee I'm not complaining. It's the best deal I've seen on hotukdeals while I've been looking for a washing machine for the last month or so so went for it. Also I'm a big fan of Panasonic and previously when I complained to Panasonic UK about an issue with a plasma tv they went the extra mile to save the day and sort the problem when Dixons failed to sort the problem. They seem to be a company that take customer service seriously if you have to escalate it. I also have had brilliant customer service from my credit card company (capital one). Also not forgetting the retailer I have purchased from has a excellent reputation for customer service so I'm feeling pretty happy about this purchase currently.

That banging is quite common if a washing machine is underloaded and on a high speed cycle. On Miele's if they sense an imbalance they automatically slow the spin speed. From a miele manual;

The laundry has not been
spun properly and is still
wet.
The machine detected an
imbalance during the final
spin and reduced the
spin speed automatically.
Include both large and
small items in the load as
this will give better
distribution.

I think each program on the Panasonic might set a different spin speed but if your the type of person like me who throws everything in together or does half loads you might want to limit the spin speed to something like 1,000rpm. Also make sure the transport bolts are removed and the washing machine is correctly levelled. I don't think these Panasonic's can be too badly engineered as the sound levels are low. Maybe they lack that feature of the Miele though and you will have to adjust how you use it. It's not hard to imagine if you have a high spin speed and a heavy item saturated in water alone in the drum you will get banging noises as it is thrown around.

hi there i am a domestic appliance engineer and would definitely recommend the LG machine, the Panasonic is still a good price but if it breaks down and you manage to find someone who actually fixes Panasonic washing machines it will more than likely be a bucket job as one of the 3 internal modules costs more than £300, ive had to write off alot of these machines over the last five years.
hope this helps :@)
