PANASONIC NA-14VA1WGB is normally around the £449 mark at Comet, John Lewis. However now £369 with trade in and fill out the below pdf to get a 5 year warranty direct with Panasonic.

I came across this deal this afternoon after my Hoover machine (purchased in 1994! decided to start leaking ps they don't make them like that no more), Comet will minus £80 if you trade in you old wash machine and also not charge for collecting your old machine (normally £8.95).

To claim your £80 discount, enter code PANATRADE80 in the promotional codes box in the basket and select the recycling option when you get to the checkout.

The Panasonic NA14VA1WGB has a top energy rating of A++, 7kg capacity 1400 spin washing machine with 3D sensor wash technology and a rapid 15 minute quick wash. Inverter technology not only provides the optimal cleaning performance, but ensures the most efficient energy consumption.

Dimensions: 85.0x60.0x59.7(H/W/D)cm
Spin speed: 1400 rpm
Wash grade: A
Energy efficiency grade: A++
Spin efficiency grade: B

Good deal for a really energy efficient washing machine. You can also get 1600 rpm model for a £10 more, but I didn't want to go for that model due to noise and apparently higher than 1400 rpm doesn't make that much of a difference in drying and also a risk of more wear due to the higher rpm.

PS another tip if you don't have an old washing machine lying around, go get one from a skip or your local recycle place.

For the extra, I would be buying it at John Lewis, as it comes with a 5 year warranty there:
johnlewis.com/230…798 @ £449

Washing machines, being the most unreliable kit there is, Panasonic with it being an unknown quantity in washing machines, even though it is generally a brand of electronics I would buy!

i knew I forgot something, after canceling my purchase at John Lewis when I saw Comet's £80 discount offer today. Yes Panasonic give you a 5 year warranty if you purchase from a Comet or John Lewis etc, you just need to fill in the form and send it with a copy of your receipt to Panasonic :

Panasonic have been making washing machine from 1951 in Japan. They only entered the European market last year.

Now isn't that ODD... Comet are one of few retailers that seem to be offering this deal, yet there isn't a PEEP about the 5 year warranty there. Hoping to sucker you into one of their expensive insurance based ones I suppose, at 160+ quid!

Very good deal if the warranty goes through then!

I spoke to cs first at Comet and she goes you need to purchase the 160 warranty, then i pointed her to Panasonic's website and she goes oh yeah just fill in the form and send it off to Panasonic.

Panasonic web site does mention Comet is one of their participating dealers along with John Lewis, thats enough for me to save me £80. I would of gone with JL if they could of matched this deal but I doubt they will.

Panasonics are great! How many HDMI sockets does it have?

I did a bit of research on this as I wanted it a few days ago. You can find it at £399 at some independant retailers. It's well made, lovely engineering including the door hinge (!), looks good, 5 year warranty which is about the most you can realistically expect. If you look at in instore, it is marginally bigger than most washers, only a fraction, but it's not on the smaller side. I've also seen a depth at 62.5cm on one website. maybe won't affect most people but could be an issue in some kitchen spaces.

Comet are top of my most hated list. Good luck.

My indesit just packed in. I've been studying washng machines for 2 days, leaning towards the panasonics for the warranty. but couldn't quite stretch to the 16VX until now. Thanks OP, you saved me 80 quid and having to chuck out the old machine!! Result!

You haven't tried Currys then?

i think everyone has had issues with high street stores, I had issues with DSG group companies, Argos etc I know peeps who had issues with even John Lewis. Don't let bad experiences put you off a deal unless it was a very bad experience. Always purchase using a credit card and know your sale of goods act if anything goes wrong.

I'm quite interested in this. Has anyone had any experiencewthpanasonics customer service? just thinking if something goes wrong!

Heat. Nice looking and good Brand with a decent length warranty at a reasonable price.

John Lewis are 'Never knowingly undersold'. They will match the Comet price. I've done this a few times with them and they are great about it.

In response to last post: I don't think JL will match the price with the trade-in though.

Apart from the spin speed, anyone know if there's anything else worth paying the extra for the NA-16VX1WGB?
We're really turning into a Panasonic house these days.... gone are the days of Sony!

Thanks

Agree that they wont match a trade in, and it doesnt matter who you buy it from as this is a 5 Year Panasonic warranty, not a store warranty.

Used to be a Sony House, try finding a Sony washing machine!

hey, i was debating to spend the extra tenner for the 1600 rpm model, then found this:

whitegoodshelp.co.uk/wor…ts/

erm still debating, but i prob stick with the 1400 rpm, just seems more wear and tear to go up to 1600rpm

My JL order came to 458 (inc 9 to take away my old machine). I was well chuffed when i revisited Comet, I had a look before but prob did not read the ad properly, my order is now £369, 90 quid saving over JL.

good deal.thx.don't forget 3% topcashback.

also re warranty, you don't have to worry about comet really, as said before, you'll be dealing with Panasonic...

Ah... YOU have had the Sony experience too?
Never again, as they say.
Me AND my partner (before we were together) have both had this expensive experience :-(

I would personally be considering the 1600 spin if I was renewing, but that's on the basis of tumble drying everything (I am disabled, so hanging clothes out to have to rush out again when it rains is not in my definition of convenient!), and I know everyone will rush to provide the statistics on how little extra water comes out, but in practice, I would not want to be without my 1600 spin machine.

If you line dry, then the 1400 is going to be fine, if you tumble, you need to look at the extra time to dry, and the extra power consumed... although if you do tumble dry everything, then you priority might be get an A rated drier first, as this will have the MOST effect on cost and energy saving!

Thanks very much, love panasonic products.

How come the spin speed on the 1400 energy rating is B and the 1600 A?

csf;7631217

heres some more on spin … heres some more on spin rpm:http://www.washerhelp.co.uk/topics/spin-speeds.html

There are other examples around too, but one quotes figures, however it fails to provide any background to where those figures come from, therefore I won't post it here.

I think my previous post puts my thoughts on the subject - faster the better IF you tumble dry, it matters much less if you don't, so probably worth saving the money in that case.

As for noise, well, they only spin fast on the FINAL spin anyway, so any extra noise is short lived, and good brands are much quieter than cheap ones anyway. My Siemens 1600 machine is far quieter than the Ariston 1600 I had before ALL of the time, the Creda 1200 I had before that was about the same noise level as the Ariston. The Siemens has also proved dramatically more reliable, so quality is the issue more than speed when it comes to noise AND reliability!

Because the faster speed gets the water out better!

Original Poster

1600 normally gets a A and 1400 a B in terms of more efficient spin. But if you look at my other posts below, i reckon it doesn't make that much difference, some machines are also more better than spinning than others, the LG due to its direct drive setup. Also the higher rpm also comes into play on certain washes, like cottons etc, most other programs use lower spin speeds.

whitegoodshelp.co.uk/wor…ts/

has anyone checked with JL , im sure they would match !!!

Thanks again OP ordered one as my Siemens (12 years old!) Has finally started giving hassles. The inlet valves are goingand the parts are around £50. So £50 + £80 about £10 Quidco means I got £140 for my old banger.

For what it's worth 6 out of every 10 machines purchased in Japan is a Panasonic. Just because they are known over here for brown goods over in Japan they are massive, i would have no problems in buying a Panasonic white good.

P.s They are also doing refrigeration

Found some info from a Singapore forum, Bosch drum technology maybe be used in these models.

My Mum bought the NV 16 VG1 washing machine after her Siemens broke.

She said she would recommend it to anyone, its very quiet even when spin drying and says her washing is somehow cleaner!

Me neither, but the one reservation I DO have is support... like any company in the field in this country, and for white goods, in the UK they are tiny - is the service network they are using used to fixing the goods, and is it currently BIG enough? If you find you will be waiting 6 weeks for a call out, and another month for the part if it goes bust, then that is the potential pitfall!

This is a rip off I took my wife in and they said she wasnt acceptable as a trade in
