Ask again. Arguably Panasonic is an unknown entity in the washing machine arena, but 6 yrs parts and labour warranty included for less than £350? I am definitely looking forward to 6 years of stress free washing......Although quite disappointing being my first post:(

Thing is, and I'm most certainly not knocking this deal, but how good is the warranty? I was once duped into buying a Dixons group extended warranty thinking it was actually direct from Bosch. IIRC the letter offering the warranty was made to look like it was from Bosch but it was not - it was Dixons using a local independent service agent. Anyway the warranty was supposed to be next working day service - but in reality it wasn't. Because the service company had engineers off sick - it took a week for them to even come and look at our machine. Fortunately I had some technical know how and managed to coax the machine back into life until the engineer arrived. I did get a partial refund and apology but the prospect of a week with of no washing machine with three very young children, in winter, has made me think very hard about looking into reviews of the actual quality of service provided by washing machine warranties when I next buy a machine.

Having previously worked for Panasonic I know that they make 100's of products they sell all over the world but not in UK. So just because its a new product here doesn't mean it's not been going a long time elsewhere.

I got one of the first gen Panasonic models released in the UK 3 years ago, a 7kg model. You can find my post here:

hotukdeals.com/dea…422

I had to get them to replace the water jet component (not sure the name) in the soap dispenser, as it was leaking water into the drum when the machine was off, imagine a dripping tap. sorted in the first few months. Other than that it's still going strong. Customer services is average and the field engineers are sub contracted washing machine engineers. But what you expect for 350, this isn't a Miele washer lol . The machine hasn't skipped a beat since the initial issue.

Delivery for my postcode is £59.99, you would think i lived in outer mongolia, the rates some companies charge! Delivery charge for this item from this and other companies varies from free to £75, a fact i have to factor in when buying items.

Fantastic washing machine, I have had a panasonic for a couple of years now and it has never faulted once. My clothes in my opinion are also coming out cleaner and with less damage than in my old hotpoint costing similar money.

I'm sure its fine as others have said they make assorts of stuff not just tv...

Panasonic make great TVs.

This is a great deal

My Bosch washing machine has done 9 years without a single problem.

I would not overlook the Panasonic problems reported earlier in the thread. Washing machines are supposed to just WORK.

I work for an electrical retailer installing washing machines. Personally I would not touch panasonic washers with a ten foot barge pole! The amount of problems we have had with them is ridiculous! Just a word of warning! IMO get a Bosch!

My mum had a £700 bosch and it went wrong after only 6 months, kept going wrong many times after that so in the end she got a Miele. All I am saying is there are always hot spots for things going wrong. Some places will say get Bosch and some will say get Panasonic the only thing you will never hear is someone saying get Beko.

Could you also look into how to get the wife to use the ******* thing?
Ours will last forever.

I am I missing the point? 6 year warranty is for vx4 models this is a vx3 model so the warranty offer doesn't apply does it?

I don't think you can go by 1 poor review,

Hi all

We have the 1600 spin version with the 6 year warranty and to be honest we wouldn't buy another one!

Since we've had it we have called engineers out at least 4 times for different things and the review on Amazon is an accurate review in our experience. Especially when the machine stops mid-cycle as there isn't enough weight in it!

It's a good due to the warranty - but like I said above - I wouldn't buy another Panasonic one

We've had a Bosch for just over six years. It went wrong a year to the day we bought it and then wrong again almost exactly a year later. Bosch were very quick and efficient fixing it though. But it has broken down three times outside of the manufacturers warranty and the service from Dixons has been less than stellar. That said the cost of the repairs were much more than the cost of the warranty .The machine does get run a lot at least once a day and often more so. Judging by other peoples experiences with machines that's probably not that bad reliability. It's a bit battered now and needs a new door because the handle broke - though still useable. I may replace it and keep it in the garage as an emergency back-up. But I don't think I will buy another Bosch mostly because of the annoying programming functions; for example there's a quick wash which is 15mins but it's too short to wash OK and you cannot set it to spin at maximum 1400 rpm only 1200 rpm so things take longer to dry - why do you think I want to do a quick wash Bosch? Duh! I think I will take a look at Samsung next.

A guy in John Lewis told me that Panasonic washing machines are using LG's glass doors, so when you look at it you actually see LG technology.

I bought one of these 1.5yrs ago (with delivery to NI it was £410 or so).
I've never had a problem with it (IO got the extra 5yr guarantee too), it is very quiet & has plenty of space for big loads & does everything a modern machine ought to.
I'd happily buy another, best washing machine I've had yet, easily.

£348.98 online, with free delivery @ 247electronics.co.uk/vie…894. Not sure how good a reputation that company has?

All these people who have had problems, I doubt they read the manual fully. With the initial installation there is a set procedure of key presses to make the Panasonic machines "set zero" the load and balance sensors taking into account uneven floor / installation. I wonder if the installation guy in the above posts who has loads of problems with these machines went through this procedure? I have two Panasonic washers, two LGs, and a Beko. Pannys have both worked perfect. Beko screams on happily. 1 Korean built (8+ years) LG is great, the Chinese built (2 years) LG is total junk.
Wouldn`t have bought the BEKO, but at £150 with 5 years FULL warranty (parts/labour) seemed a worthy gamble - Better than the cheap Chinese LG by a mile.

Beko washing machines are not far off best buy scores at Which - and seeing as they don't take price into account which many of us have to, they do very well I would say. As a brand they're rated at 85% on the Which reliability index, 5th behind Miele (92%), Bosch (88%) and John Lewis and LG (both 87%).

The only LG that was rated a Best Buy costs nearly a grand (according to Which)! The 10Kg version of this Panasonic was only 1% short of a Best Buy score:

Pros: Excellent cleaning of synthetics, very quick, quiet wash cycle, easy to load and unload, time remaining and delay function

Cons: Average rinsing efficiency and cottons cleaning, noisy spin, cluttered control panel

John Lewis are rebranded Zanussi, which in turn are Electrolux / AEG.

What's with the poor quality of washing machines nowadays?

We've had the same £200 1000 spin Electra (or some other cheap brand) for about 13 years with nothing but a waste hose to replace - which cost me a quid 2nd hand from a local repair shop who strips down machines for spares!
