I saw this advertised in an Empire Direct email.

Unable to comment on the product as I do not own it.

A similar item was posted here a few months ago: http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/panasonic-frost-free-fridge-freezer-399-appliance-city-2590804

The model numbers are different though.

Empire Direct went bust long time ago!!?

Ring them they are part of richer sounds

Yep, the sister company of Richer Sounds PLC.

Good deal!

I have a side by side Panasonic fridge freezer, it's been ok. Made in Turkey by Arcelik (don't snigger) who are a very large (and never heard of) fridge maker.

Arcelik is one of the 2 cartels in Turkey, your Panasonic is a Beko just rebadged

Interesting. I wonder if there is a Beko model with the same specs and looks; or whether Arcelik build a Panasonic fridge freezer to the exact requirements of Panasonic?

Don't know too much about fridges, but would have thought this would be a hotter deal.

nah you wont be able to Panasonic are well fussy and do their upmost to hide the fact they use Arcelik and Vestel for their white goods, they are fully aware of how poor their reputations are.

They have become lazier now through they are letting these companies determine the quality of the components where Panasonic use to determine it. You wont find a standard Beko product code on these they will have a full Panasonic WW model code and all spares are supplied into Panasonic UK only and then to distributors even though they already deal with them for their own brands and could easily get the parts required probably quicker and cheaper.

I thought it would get some heat. This previous deal for a slightly different model got quite a bit of heat:

hotukdeals.com/dea…804

HUKD can sometimes be strange when it comes to what gets lots of heat and what does not. Some deals get posted with little heat. Then a month or so later the same item at the same price gets lots of heat. Likewise a product can get cheaper but does not get the same amount of heat as the dearer previous deal.

Our 15 year old hotpoint is dying so we've been looking for a new machine. Don't want a hotpoint again due to the fires. We eliminated several brands due to known fire risk actually. And then we wanted a machine with at least 200L capacity in the fridge and that eliminates a load more. What we were left with the machines would have cost £400-500 and some were low on features. No meat locker which we have on our current one, some don't even have alarms for if it gets too warm for that money. It's also A++ economy rated, which is so efficient it will actually save us some real money on our electric bill over the years. So this machine is what we went for in the end because it is really a machine from the £550+ bracket but at a great price of under £400 we can't find better.

Would have proffered silver but other than that it looks ideal. Appliance Direct are basically Richer Sounds who are decent so I don't have any concerns about that. Can't comprehend why this deal is cold, there is nothing better available for the price, not even close.

Thanks snowathlete for your comment. I do not own this product but in the near future I will be looking to buy something like this.

Are the fire risk ones all part of the same group as Hotpoint?

My parents have had Bosch (fridge/freezer and a separate freezer) which have been going strong for several years. Although like a lot of things quality can change over the years.

Recently there was a Sharp deal on Currys which came up hotukdeals.com/dea…055. It has a big freezer capacity but the width was 80cm instead of the usual 60cm

If you can, please write back with an update on how you have been getting on with the Panasonic, after having owned in for while. It would be useful to know of any pros and cons with it. I always take ages looking into products and then end up wondering if I made the right decision after purchasing.

Voting on hukd can be strange and a previous Panasonic model did get some heat. Probably this deal will get posted again by someone and it will be scorchio!
