Its fine for small areas, using this just for the kitchen and sounds ok for what it is,the built in highpass keeps bass levels fairly low over all the EQ settings...but trebble, clairty and overall volume levels more then sufficient - this vids quite acurate with output sounds:

Sounds ok for a single speaker portable radio.... and it has the often omitted DAB+ as well. Gets heat from me.
I have the similar priced Sony XDR-S40 in my bathroom, but i think this Panny sounds better.

I have this. Takes 4 LR14 - the huge ones - and each set of Duracells I've used lasts about 8hours play time. I'm not kidding, I've used maybe 40 batteries so far. It doesn't fully turn off so batteries drains constantly. Terrible.

Poor battery life and battery cost is always an issue with portable DAB radios so, for me, it was worth paying more for one with a built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery.

try taking a battery out. Its says draws approx 0.6w when off. way off the specs, but most will just have plugged in

Eh, you're not going to notice stereo on a portable radio unless your head is a couple of feet away. You need the speakers spaced a good distance apart.

Use rechargeables.
I've got a Pure One. The speaker on the radio is pretty poor, but I've plugged it into a basic 2 speaker dcoking unit and it sounds fantastic

Same with all DAB radios

Use rechargeables.

I agree if you already have the rechargeable LR14 batteries this radio uses and a charger for them but if not, they will cost you more than the extra £20 it would take to buy a DAB radio with a built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery.
What radio would people suggest for around £100?

LR14 are C-type, one up from AA. And you can get C-type AA adaptors and use rechargeables, or get rechargeable C's.
