I've been hunting for a 3D blu Ray system for a couple of weeks and came across this from Currys as part of their Black Tag ddeals.
Spec says it has NFC, Bluetooth, 4k playback and upscaling and smart functions.

nice find op, heat added

I bought this last week, and it is fantastic for the price. Excellent for streaming music from my phone via bluetooth - and YouTube TV. It even has its own Android app, so everything can be controlled from your phone! Brilliant!!

Can't believe it's gone under the radar, just been waiting for someone to say the spec is wrong. :-)
Do you think it's possibly to use the O2 Priority voucher of £10 off £100 spend? If so it's even better.

I have the older version of this without the 4k upscaling. (BTT400EBK). Works like a treat with ARC on my Panasonic TV so it detects the speakers from this. Happy with the purchase after a year. I don't think I've ever actually used the blu-ray though!

Forgive me for asking such a stupid question, but how do the speakers connect to the main unit? By speaker cable or bluetooth?

4K upscaling is a myth - every 4K tv will offer this feature whether your feed it Bluray @1080p or dvd @480p it will scale it to the native resolution of the panel.

There's no such thing as a stupid question. The speakers are wired but audio streaming is wireless.

I was going to post this deal OP beat me to it haha Nice One .... Heat Added

cheers
have reserved for collection tomorrow

will have a proper read up tonight before committing myself...

my Panasonic SC-BT200 keeps switching itself off (F76 error)
It was a lot more than this one. I wonder how the quality compares...
Anyone have experience of both set ups?

cheers

Is this DLNA certified ? No mention of it on the Currys' website ...

refurb on ebay (from panasonic) for £129

ebay.co.uk/itm…a7a

I have this, quite nice, sounds good, but there is an annoying lag when changing inputs. If you stay on simplink and arc won't bother you though.

And it's got Doulby Digital +, nice find.

How would one of these compare with a Denon or Onkyo mini hifi for music playback?

They are hardwired.
There is an optical in, aux in and hdmi arc. Hope that helps.

thanks ds5. But most equipment nowadays can only be connected via hdmi or optical. So I have a tv, skybox, virgin and a pc...how would I connect all of them to this?

Optical out from your tv would work

One option - what I have used to connect my PS3/PS4 and Tivo to my Sound system

3 optical in and 1 optical out

Paid just under £10 a year ago and it has been great. You have to manually switch to the one you want, but hardly an imposition to be honest.

Tried a couple of those 3 into 1 and none of them worked. Reading the reviews on Amazon, seems to be a very hit and miss solution, but great if it does work. Hot for the system, by the way!

optical out from your tv would likely strip any dolby signals. I would go for a system with multiple hdmi inputs rather than this in your set up.

So if you use optical out from your tv will this transfer the sound from each device from my tv I have sky box ps4 Xbox 360 bluray player VHS dvd combi

Any decent reviews on this?

Cheers - just ordered. Been looking for one for my son,

Topcashback 1.51% as well

Thank you. Just ordered one as a Christmas present for my husband

Can anyone explain the HDMI "ARC" piece?
I have a similar LG system but you only get the BluRay via HDMI or a single OPtical device connected.....I seem to recall after I bought it that I would need ARC or Passive to have better connectivity --- eg Sky, PS3, TV all playing through the surround sound?

After my recent experience with Currys, I think I'll pass on this. Great deal though.

Arc is audio return channel. Basically allows you to connect a cinema or soundbar to the tv and drive it from the tv. Ie leave all the inputs like sky etc plugged into the tv. And the tv will pass the audio via the hdmi. In addition the tv should detect the cinema/soundbar and mtu the internal speakers and control the volume on the external system. Should work with most tvs under about 5 years old. The same hdmi cable can be used to pass video from the cinema bluray to the tv. Note only one port on the tv is normally designated as arc compatible.

I'm not sure if my Panasonic TX-P50X60B will work with this or not.

The manual says it supports ARC on HDMI2 but also says "Input audio signal - 2ch Linear PCM" so it might just discard any other type of signal and not forward it to the decoder via ARC.

The TV only has two HDMI inputs, so I'm already using a three way switcher for my two PCs and NowTV box, with my RPi XBMC going to the other TV input, so if I got this system I'd need to get a four way switch and connect the RPi to that instead.

I've always wanted surround sound but as I live in a flat with poor soundproofing and so wouldn't be able to crank it up much, it seemed a bit pointless spending £200 on a receiver and another £200 on speakers. £149 seems more reasonable but I'd still probably have to disable the subwoofer and I have no idea if that's possible with this system, whereas I know it is with a full receiver.

Have to wonder how this manages to cram the decoder/amp as well as the BD player into a box that's about 1/4 of the height of receivers and whether that's going to lead to overheating and failure after not very long!

Well I found this retailer who were selling the SC-BTT400 (but I don't suppose it's much different to the model in question here) who's now OOS but weren't very flattering about it even when they were selling it!
