I was in my local Tesco TELFORD and noticed that they had this on offer. Seemed pretty decent for the price considering it's a good brand and also 5.1 speaker system

Good price!

Question, when people see these items at the local store why do they not say which store is the local? Is it so people go and vote it hot even though the deal exists no where - else? 131 heat and probably no purchases.

"This is a good system with excellent sound quality and volume, the only issue I have is that it does not have a digital optical audio input so could not use the 5.1 feature from my Samsung led tv, probably my fault for not investigating this fully, just need to be aware of this."

Can this be used with an Xbox 360 or PS3?

Yep, just use an optical cable.

Not if it doesn't have an optical input, which from what people have been saying, it doesn't.

It looks like its got an AUX input, looking at the Panny spec site, so you might be able to use the standard TV RCA cables that come with the PS3 to transmit sound from PS3 to surround sound. It'll only be 2.1 though but better than TV's standard speakers.

Very VERY good point.....does make you wonder sometimes if "some" of these deals are deals only in the "head" of the OP!

This was in Telford it it's not available anywhere else sorry but I can't be held responsible for that

It's also in the Tesco Extra in Chelmsford - just picked one up. They had a couple left on the shelf.

That's a bit harsh. Many of these deals are just store specific (Managers specials / end of lines / clearing stock, etc.). Give the OP a bit of credit for bothering to post the deal. Too much cynicism on this site sometimes.

Do you really think he would waste his time posting the deal if he had made it up, store specific or not it's a good deal for anyone who can take advantage of it. It's negative comments from people like you that put people off from posting deals on this forum.

I find these type of comments amusing myself it's quite simple chap if you have a tesco local to you pick up the phone and ask them. This is to let people know that potential there is a deal on at Tesco that might be of interest to them is it store specific? How do I know. Do you really think i'm going to phone all the stores in england just for a simple numptee like you

It is certainly not store-specific, I have just seen the shelf-edge yellow label in Stockport Portwood Tesco extra. I did not however find out if there was any stock there, sorry was in a rush.

Many thanks for posting OP, I will take a look at local Tesco and see if they have one.

I do not need to see 'receipt' as proof the offer exists, I do not expect the OP to confirm if my local has them, I am just glad he has taken the time to make me and others on here aware that this item could well be going cheap at a Tesco's near you.

Thanks again OP

shame it doesn't have USB drive support, still hot though at this price.

This may sound like a really stupid question, so apologies in advance if it does, but can you get speakers like this to connect to your TV (assuming it's through HDMI / scart or whatever) and get a headphone output cable thing, so I can also plug the speakers in to my laptop or iPod???

Definitely not store specific. My local Tesco (Hull St Stephen's) had these out priced at £119. Took it to the till to check price and it came up as £60 :D. There were another two out on the shelf after I got mine ...

I'm using a simple aux cable from my TV into this and there's a handy little music port (3.5mm jack) in the front for your ipod, etc.

If there is no optical port and RCA only gives you 2.1, what is the point in it being a 5.1 system? How are you supposed to connect devices to it>

HOT if you can get one!

End of line and Tesco have reduced to clear, although you can not buy online.

I bought one of these when they were £150 last year because I have a panasonic TV - convenient as it can be fully controlled via the TV e.g. turns off when TV turns off. I have since replaced it with a more powerful set up

Since then it's bobbed up and down between £150 and £120 but obviously reduced to half last sale price to clear (£60)

At £120-£150 I would have said if you have a panasonic TV consider it, otherwise not because of the low power output (only 330W). But at £60 GRAB IT IF YOU CAN!

yeah there in all tesco Extra's as it is a discontinued model. hence the price has been reduced to £60, very good product for that price.
