I have always been a fan of plasma over LCD but after my Pioneer plasma died I had a cheap samsung 32" LCD for a while, when I replaced it with this Panasonic Plasma I was so disappointed. Any light in the room and the picture is awful, has to be put in dynamic mode during the day just to be able to see anything on it, and then back to normal mode in the evening so it doesn't look horrible. This has put me off plasma for good now, if I have to shut the curtains to watch something in the day light I may as well have a projector.

I have the 46st30 which is supposed to be a lot better in bright rooms which i agree with however the picture on freeview or freeview hd isn't as sharp or detailed as the 42vt20 i had previously.

BUT if their price match wasn't such a scam you wouldn't need to pay extra! If you want to pay extra then Costco actually offer better and then M&S better than jl. Re different post about wishing amazon did extended guarantees - I thought they did.....

£100 for a 5 Year Warranty is excessive. Richer Sounds charge 10% of the TV price &, if you don't claim within the 5 year period, they refund you the cost of the Warranty.

How would this fair for gaming?

Only 16ms Input Lag, so should satisfy hardcore gamers.

Optimal viewing distance for a tv this size and a tv 50" viewing 1080p … Optimal viewing distance for a tv this size and a tv 50" viewing 1080p material?

divide screen size by 4 gives optimal viewing distance in feet

so 42" is 10.5 feet
and 50" is 12.5 feet
