Been looking around for the 37inch version as appose to the 42inch (currently available from dixons for £450 or so). 42inch is too big for my need and the multi award winning 37px80 is the ideal plasma from a 6-7ft viewing distance.

Standard definition is crisp on the plasma and thats what i will be using most the time. Comet at last have reduce the price to £499. Its been at this price with others in the past however its nice to go into a store a pick it up.

Incredible picture quality from this Panasonic 37" Viera HD Ready 100HZ Plasma TV equipped with V-real 3 picture enhancement, integrated digital tuner, 24P True cinema mode, SD card slot for photo viewing and 3 HDMI inputs.

Down sides before anyone mentions them:

Not 1080P however HD content looks great
Power consumption is higher than most LCDs of similar size
Its still a touch more expensive than the 42 inch version which is annoying

Which voucher mate?

is there not a 50 squid voucher for dixons today? find something for a penny and you'll get the telly for 450 which is tempting :-D

oops - this is a comet deal....ignore me please :-D

Why anyone would pay the same [or more] for the smaller 37" screen over the excellent 42" screen needs their head felt IMO

I have a 50" set which replaced a previous 36" CRT and could still go [a lot] bigger!

I also have the 42PX80 in another room. 6-7' viewing distance for the 42" is fine.....

I agree with you on the pricing front as the price difference is rediculous between the 37 and 42 inch. This i have specifically mentioned already. 42 at 6-7ft with standard definition in my opinion isnt ideal. I have tested both the 37 and 42 at this distance where the 37 came on top. Both plasmas were set 4inches higher from the center from straight eye viewing position.

Now just looking at the deal compared to other offerings from other retailers, this isnt a bad deal. Obviously the £400 mark would be ideal.

Both ours are 42", find them so 'normal' now that I feel the need for at least a 50" and maybe a 58"/60" once prices start to fall.

It all comes down to room size and the content to be veiwed

This is the TV i'm after, as soon as it's £450 i will be buying it.

Haven't voted either way, is a good price, and i agree it's down to personal taste, i wouldn't want a 42", even if it was a similar size, well at least that's what the wife's told me.......

42" is simply too big for my living room. The bigger the picture the better as far as I'm concerned, but it's simply not practical in my living room. 37" is as big as I am willing to go and I'll begrudgingly pay more for it if necessary.
Also, for possibly the best reason of all, see here- awards.whathifi.com/win…d=1

Anybody know of any codes to bring this down, i'm so tempted

I bought the 37" recentlyeven though the 42" was the same price. Personal preference but in my room the 42 would have looked out of place. I got mine for £599 from panasonic shop which was still a bargain as it had 5 year warranty and the closest richer sounds is about 120 miles away.

How do you rate the TV for SD? I've read rave reviews about it but i've never actually seen one!!

I've heard its v good and better than the 42" but its being delivered in 3 days so I cant rate it myself yet.

oh i see! Let me know when you get it, perhaps upload some pics of SD?
