Manufacturer's Description

Every image is expressive from bright scenes, such as scorching desert landscapes, to dark cave scenes. Contrast is enhanced by the new Real Black Drive system (a pre-discharge control system) and a higher base luminance from improvements made to the panel production process. The high contrast creates deep, robust blacks and reproduces scenes with a delicate balance of light and shadow.

You can enjoy beautiful cinematic reproduction of movie images. The images that are recorded onto movie film at 24 frames per second (fps) are reproduced at two times that speed by 24p Playback. This achieves film-like reproduction than with the 2:3 processing method.

3,072 Equivalent Steps of Gradation lends natural expression to images such as sunsets. VIERA's large colour space covers 110% of the HDTV colour standard. This wide gamut has been achieved by an advanced panel structure and a newly developed filter, which produce richer, more vivid colouring.

In addition to brilliant picture quality, VIERA models offer the easy operation made possible by VIERA Link and the SD card slot. VIERA Link lets you operate other connected Panasonic AV components using only the VIERA TV's remote control unit.

Good price for a 42" Panasonic Plasma, ive seen this for around 600 at comet.

Voted Hot.

I say pay slightly extra (less than £100 more) and get the PX80 myself, its a much better tv. The PX8 is a very budget tv and picture and sound quality aint anything special.

Thanks Ray, good or bad your neverending deals are appreciated by some!

thanks for the advice on p80

Voted warm because I feel the deals with the 5-year warranty, albeit for a little more money, have been better value.

Superb price.... tempted to get one for the back room....I wonder if worr lass would notice.

1080p ??

A good deal, but I would prefer to pay £639 and get the TH-42PX80B from John Lewis with a 5 year warranty.
The 80B version is a bit newer and gets very good reviews. It also has 15000:1 contrast and 3 HDMI connections.
Both models will accept a 1080p signal but only have a 1024 x 768 screen resolution so they are HD Ready and not full HD.

Hi i got the 80 from john lewis brill tv they will price match this was £595 currys digital merryhill hope this helps check price on google and then ring jonh lewis

Both Cracking TV sets. The px80b has a nicer a finish and has more connectivity options, but having seen them both perform side by side through many sources. (Sky, cable, ps3, freeview, SD-DVD and Blu-ray) I could not tell the difference in picture quality. Ok for just over £500 this is a very good deal, if you have £639 to spend buy The slightly higher spec from John Lewis with the 5 year guarentee. Voted Hot, both good deals.

Sounds like you got lucky, just tried this and it's the px8b which is 599 so I'm guessing they mispriced the px80 for a while and you got a nice result, well done !:)

1080p ??

Nah its 768p but 1080p isnt really noticable unless you have a 46"+ TV

i'd consider the PX80, better picture, sound, SD card reader and has a nice glossy finish, only £599
